Update: For the last few days now i haven't had the boot cycle problem after changing my ram speed from 16 to 13.... I will leave it at 13 until it happens again. I think I should know within another week or 2 as it sometimes lasts for 2-3 weeks before i get the cycle boot problems again.

Gigabyte said it was up to me as to whether to post their efi2awd program (!), so here it is, attached. I think this should be made a sticky.

Instructions:


To flash back to Award Bios, please put the supplied flash file onto a bootable
usb flash drive along with a legacy bios image for your motherboard (that you do
wnloaded from our website). From there boot off the flash drive and execute the
below command

1) efi2awd bios file name , press Enter

2) After updating process completed, it will asked you to remove AC power cord.

3) Reboot your system, back to Award BIOS now.

This past week (about 7 days ago), I updated my Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4 motherboard to the U1g EFI BIOS. WOW! What a P.O.S BIOS! It caused multiple reboots, kept changing the BIOS configuration with no input from me whatsoever! Kept changing my other settings too with no input. Got multiple BSODs too.

I am a very experienced computer user, in addition to being a moderator on two Windows forums.

Gigabyte should NEVER have released this BIOS until it was stable.

The instructions bad144 gave in addition to the handy utility efi2awd.exe program solved my problem and I set my BIOS back to the F6 version.

To those who own a Z68XP-UD4 board: I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT UPDATE TO THE U1g BIOS!!

Maybe later on Gigabyte will get their act together regarding the UEFI BIOS firmware update, but for now it as useless as teats on a boar hog!

To the site administrator: Please make bad144's post a Sticky... it's that important and useful!

I'm a proud owner of the GA-Z77M-D3H and updated the bios to F10 BETA (all went well), but I still have 2 strange issues:

1. I can't seem to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. Getting a message that my pc hardware doesn't match the minimum requirements which I strongly question. !!!AHCI SATA MODE IS ENABLED IN THE BIOS!!!

2. The boot time is awkwardly long for such a modern board. It takes 1 minute for the thing to load into Windows. SSD is the primary boot partition. I could boot into Windows with my previous board (H61MH from Biostar) within 10 seconds.

Hoping someone might have had the same issue and solved it.

If your post reads exactly as written, the cause of this is clear: Do you really have AHCI as the selected controller mode? If so, set it to RAID instead and you should have no issues installing the IRST driver/suite.

No obvious reason why that should be the case. Have built two Z77M-D3H-based systems lately and haven't seen anything like this. Have you tried the basic troubleshooting steps - like, for example, starting the system with any unnecessary peripherals (USB sound, optical drive etc) disconnected? Might also be worth a good browse of this thread to look up possible issues with your Logitech keyboard. Do you also have all the relevant/latest drivers installed? Did you also have this boot time issue immediately after installing the OS, or did it only crop up after installing a driver for something or other?

Several new options for UD3H! PLL overvoltage might interest some of us. Rest seems to be assorted minor tweaks/goodies.
I'll keep testing stability, maybe there were some changes under the hood too.

It appears like F12L for the UD3H restored all the fixes and features which they removed in F12J, with the exception of Secure Boot. Didn't notice anything new compared to F12h, except that some of the existing settings were rearranged a bit. As a result of them re-adding the CSM settings, the HBA I have in the PCI-E x4 slot once again shows up, so I'm content with using this bios for the time being. 16GB of Samsung DDR3L @2133Mhz is still a no-go.
