GA-MA78GPM-DS2H with PCMCIA cards

There seems to be problem with PCI-PCMCIA adaptecards in GA-MA78GPM-DS2H. So far i have tried two different adapters, and both gives me new hardware found with "PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURER" message when i install PCMCIA card, and no drivers can be loaded/installed for the card. Other adapter has TI chipset, and other one has Ricoh. Adaptercard has been tested on both PCI slots with no success. PCI slots works fine with tv-card. Any ideas can this be fixed with bios update? Adaptercards works fine in ABIT's motherboard.

Do you have the latest drivers for the cards? Do you have the Intel Chipset package installed? If not please install that and reboot and see if you can then install the cards >>>

Both cards uses driver included in Windows XP, supplied by Microsoft ( pcmcia.sys 5.1.2600). GA-MA78GPM-DS2H motherboard uses AMD/ATI chipset, so why should i install Intel drivers? I have installed latest Catalyst software 8.11, which includes south bridge driver. Also XP service pack 3 is installed

Sorry about that Intel driver comment, I am just so used to asking users as many seem to not install chipset drivers often.

Hmm, have you tried manually assigning a IRQ for it? You would need to use the hotkey, on the MAIN Page of the BIOS press Control + F1 then go into PnP/PCI page and you will find the manual IRQ Settings

Aside from that have you tried older ATI Drivers? On your Abit board, which ATI Driver package are you using?

Yes i tried to assign IRQ manually, but XP gives different IRQ to card. In bios i have set IRQ 11 for pci slot, but under XP pcmcia adapter uses IRQ 20. I have tried two different ATI drivers but same result.

My Abit board uses NVidia chipset, and as said earlier, it has no problems.

It goes under IRQ 21.

I am not really sure what to suggest to you as I dont know much about AMD or it's chipset, have you asked Gigabyte Tech support about this card and issue at all yet? If not, shoot them a email and see what they think >>>

I would also ask the maker of the card to be sure it is compatible with that board

Not yet, i will drop email to Gigabyte support. Let's see what they say about this problem.
