Well for starters going from 777-20 to 666-x will make it LESS Stable, that is tighter. To make it more stable memory wise you would go up, like 888-x as you mentioned.

How has your system been since you turned up the fan?

Did you get the error #? 0x00000?

It didnt helped with increasing the fan speed or lowering the clocks on gfx..

I don't get any errors. Just a totally freezing picture and a looping sound, my keyboard and mouse just die.. And I have to restart manually


Today I got a new freeze when I played Crysis. A
nd I've now set timings to 9-9-9-24? Would that be the solution?

(I've even tried to set 1600mhz to my memory but my computer didn't boot then :(
FSB= 400
400*7,5 = 3000 mhz on the cpu
400*4 =1600 mhz on memory.)

Please give me your full settings again that you are trying now. Does this ONLY happen in game?

Have you ran orthos yet?

Your 400 FSB Overclock may not work until you know what voltages work for the speed, so when you try to run that you need to underclock your ram so when you have issues you know it is the CPU not the ram that is causing it.

You never said, have you ran memtest on this ram lately? If not, please do on one stick at a time in slot one for 5-10 full passes >>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Take advantage of your BIOS profiles. On the MAIN page press F11 to save your settings now, and name that profile and then shut down and remove one stick of ram so you can run this test. Then bootup and go into the BIOS and load optimized defaults and set your Ram voltage ONLY then save and apply and reboot BACK to the BIOS and set performance enhance on standard and make sure your memory is running at stock speeds then reboot and run memtest. If you are running RAID while you are in the BIOS before you run memtest, after you load optimized be sure you set your SATA/RAID/Disks settings back to how you need them incase you forget and try to load windows because if you do not you will corrupt your array.

After you are done testing each stick, go into the BIOS and on the MAIN page hit F12 and choose your saved profile by name and then hit save/apply and reboot then shut down and put your other stick back in.

If both sticks pass this test then your memory should be good, and we just need to find you the correct settings.

I've tried Windows Vista memory test and it passed fine. Without errors.
Maybe thats not enough? should I try memtest too?

My computer only hangs in games. Games that take alot of the computer as Crysis, Far Cry2 and GTA 4. I've never got a freeze in Counter-Strike or deskop since you gave me your last settings. And thats about 2 weeks. (My computer is on 10-15 hours/day)

Yes, please try memtest86+ for 5-10 full passes, then I will advise again if you have errors. Let me know where you have the errors if you do

You may need to manually find and set a stable Vtt and Vcore, auto may not be giving it enough when you game. Go ahead and run memtest to see if it is your ram or not.

If you really want to stress your ram to be sure if it is ram or not to see if you need to adjust CPU or ram, run Memtest86+ test # 5 for a few hours and see if you get errors. But do run 4-5 full passes first because if you get errors on that there would be no need to do the test #5 run as you would already know you have memory issues.

I'm new in this forum, and I just find this post.

I've been experiencing the same freezing problems that the fidde91 reported.
My computer was freezing ramdomly, in the windows screen, when runing a program and more oftenly when playing a heavy game like crysis or even in battlefield 2.

The configuration of my computer is:

Cpu : Intel Q9550 2.83 ghz
Memory : Kingston ddr3 1333 mhz 2x2gb
hdd: samsumg 750 gb Sata
motherboard : Gigabyte EP 45C DS3R
VGA : Sapphire HD4870 1G
DVD unit: ASUS DRW-2014L1T - Sata
PSU: Seventeam 750W
OS : Windows XP Professional SP3

I've been researching for days on the net, trying to find some pattern to this problem. Then I found this thread.

In the beging I tought it was my VGA (I went to the store and said them that my VGA was defective. Now they are testing it, and will give me the feedback monday or thuesday)

Now I'm thinking that this might be a DDR3 issue with the motherboard.
I ran memtest 2 times (12 hours around) and got no errors.
After some researches on the net I found some people saying that Gigabyte EP 45C DS3R is not a good board because it works with both DDR2 and DDR3 and that might cause system unstability, but that is weird, if the board has the memory slots, then they should just work fine.

Then after that, I started reseaching about something related to my DVDRW unit, because as far as I remember, all the times my PC froze it had a DVD or CD inside the Sata DVD unit, then that might be a possibility, maybe an issue with the Motherboard working with 2 SATA units (My DVD and my HD) at the same time, I dont know...
I'm not able to make other tests now because I dont have my VGA in hands, but as soon as I get it back, I'll try running some tests with the DVD unit empty and see what happens.
By the way.. fidde91 could you post here what DVD unit are you using, and have you experienced any freezing when your DVD unit was empty?

So my sugestion is: everybody who is experiencing ramdom freezing problems, please post the whole computer configuration here including the DVD unit, so we might find a pattern for this problem and reach the point where the problem is.


Anyways, I bet that this a memory issue.

HI!! I've found my problem, no problem with the ram, it WAs my graphic card. And i've now got a new graphic card :)
