Default Confusion on Core Temps for i7 920

    Hi All,

I have a i7 920 rig overclocked to 3.8GHz with a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 (F9m BIOS) My question is this, after booting and running for about 10mins if I compare the Core Temps for the processor using Core Temp (vs 0.99.5) or EasyTune 6 (latest build) I get significant differences w.r.t. the avaerage CPU running temp. Its not critical the PC runs Prime95 for 2hours no sweat and passes Memtest I was just wondering do these two apps measure the temps in a different way and which is more accurate, anybody know?

    Yes, different sensors.

When calibrated core temps would probably be more accurate.

CoreTemp and RealTemp show the readings for the individual cpu core temperatures.
EasyTune shows the single cpu temperature using a different sensor.

Everest, HWmonitor and other programs will display many system temperatures, including cpu and core temperatures separately.
The individual cpu temperature reading will always be lower than any of the individual core temperatures, from idle to full load.
The core temperatures are the important ones. I generally ignore the single cpu temperature reading.
