X58A-UD5 problem with RAM

I have one set of 3x 2GB of Corsair rams, and there is a problem with the board trying to play nice.

If its a fresh startup of the system, the system will BSOD anytime and/or Windows not functioning correctly. BSOD errors of diferent types regarding memory problems will appear.

If its a fresh startup of the system and I went to change the memory settings inside the BIOS, Windows will work fine any even after continual reboots as long I don't shut the system off or I have to change the settings again on load.

So basically every time I press the On button on my casing, I have to manually change the ram settings before it will load Windows without problems.


To support that my ram is working fine, I did memtest:

Fresh startup: constant errors detected at some fixed range of memory location almost immediately (not random but repeatable).

Fresh startup and with modified memory settings: no errors detected for up to 10 passes. No problems at all after booting into Windows.


I know a new bios FD just came out but it has nothing to do with RAM(?). Currently using FC. I hope someone can help to solve this annoying issue.

Try fd bios first,they include memory fixes in new bios's too,then set dram voltage according to ram,manually set qpi/vtt voltage to 1.32v,and set uncore freq to twice what the memory multiplier is then add one to it,so for example an 8x mem multi would be 17x uncore freq and so on

I don't want mess with it (all is at default settings except I set ram settings to Profile1) in case I screw it up.. I don't even know what some of the words mean or do lol. If someone can help me step by step on the exact settings I would appreciate it a lot!

Please give me the exact settings you are trying and I or someone will give you settings back to use, auto often is not going to work due to how different each CPU is.

Template in my signature for you to give us your settings.

If you are not using Optimized now, but Fail Safe instead, please first start over with Optimized Defaults (And reboot to BIOS after load/save and set SATA settings again before windows, very important if you are using RAID)

Just look for these things in the bios and set them
Set dram voltage according to ram,it will be printed on the ram itself,either 1.5v or 1.66v
Set qpi/vtt voltage to 1.32v
Set cpu voltage to normal voltage setting
Set system memory(spd)multiplier to 12x to give you 1600mhz ram speed
Set uncore freq to 24x

Read your mb manual to find where the settings are in the bios and set them to above,that's all you need to change,don't use xmp it won't be as accurate imo

What do you mean by "Set cpu voltage to normal voltage setting"?

My ram is suppose to be 1.65v, so do i set it as 1.65 or 1.66?

In the voltage list for cpu you will see "normal",set it to that,set ram to 1.66v there's no 1.65 option,don't worry its normal,it will actually set ram to 1.648v when you set to 1.66v in the bios

Alright I will try to do it asap once I get the chance.. What about the timings for the ram? If it is not longer set to Profile1 I have to manually adjust it besides the 1600mhz thingy?

The system spd memory multiplier adjusts the memory speed,10x,12x ect,for timings select manual then quick then type the timings in from top to bottom according to ram like this

But put your ram timings in printed on the ram itself
