I'm just guessing you have to use the flashspi that came with it.
I'm having trouble flashing the F5l BIOS. This will be the fifth BIOS update I've Flashed since I bought this board - I had no problem flashing 2 of the times and had problems flashing 2 of the times. When in Q-Flash - X58AUD9.F5l 2M - File size is incorrect - It seems I'm doing all the procedures I've done in past ??? Could I get some suggestions. Refresher Course.
Thanks wibujo

Newer bioses that are 2048kb in size need to be flashed with either @bios (make sure it is the latest version) or flashspi. Qflash will not work untill its upated to handle larger bios files.

Chike, I tried the flashspi in Q-Flash and still didn't work. Acebmxer, I'm leary of flashing @BIOS - I bricked a EP45-UD3P (my first build) when I tried to flash @BIOS. I probably did everything I wasn't supposed to do.lol - I read in another forum where pepole were complaining about having to flash @BIOS with the new BIOS's that were released. If this MOBO didn't cost as much as it did - I would give @BIOS another try. Anyway, I still have that "BRICKED" EP45-UD3P MOBO sitting here as a reminder. I'll just wait a little while and see what comes of this. Thanks for the help. wibujo

flashspi is the equivalent of q-flash and need to be run from a bootable cd/flash-drive.
I've flashe with @BIOS twice and no problem, always flash at the safest possible settings, no OC and relaxed memory timings, wether it's Q-Flash, flashspi, or @BIOS.
Why don't you RMA that bricked boared?
Thanks for the info. Chike, Do I install just the flashspi file on my bootable ubs flash drive ??? The story with the BRICKED board goes like this - I won't mention no names - Sept 2009 - I took my RIG to Geek Rescue because I had problems after flashing @BIOS - They told me MOBO was bad. Went and picked up RIG from shop and started disassembling and couldn't remove bottom graghics card. I took a closer look and noticed someone super glued my card in the slot. I took my RIG back to Geek Rescue and they denied doing it. I told them I built this RIG myself and there's "NO WAY" I'd do such a stupid stunt like that !!! (not those exact words) They broke bottom PCI-E slot when removing card. Since they denied glueing card in slot - I told them if they buy me new graphics card (sapphire 4870) I'd buy new MOBO. That's why I still have it sitting here. While RIG was in shop - I found this forum "TWEAK TOWN" - With everything you guy's have taught me - there's no need to ever put RIG in shop again. By the way - they (Geek Rescue) got my RIG up and running. You guy's helped me do a perfect OC. Thanks wibujo

Ah, so One PCI-E slot is broke.
Lsdmeasap has a method of forcing the board to boot from backup BIOS maybe this can save it if there no short due to the PCI-E damage? Or maybe that's the reason it is "briked"?
The flashspi is a program that flash the BIOS, like @BIOS but under DOS OS, close to conditions Q-Flash operate at.
Just copy all the archive files to bootable DOS/FreeDOS flashdrive and it will flush upon boot.
Or if you don't copy the autoexec.bat you will have to run it manually, but you need both flashspi.exe and the BIOS file on the bootable drive.
for your bricked board... You might have success.....

Chike, Flash @BIOS went great. I noticed in Advance BIOS Features - EFI CD/DVD Boot Option - I don't have 2.2 TB HDD so left that EFI off ??? If I have any issues I'll post back in this thread. Thanks wibujo
