Just got x58a ud5, memory showing 4 out of 6 GB?

Just got this board a week ago. I made sure memory was compatible, ran memtest, and tried another i7 chip. It seems slot 3 doesn't register. I am running gskill trident 2000mhz. I can get pc into windows, but it takes 3 times and it keeps giving me detecting dramm size and on the 4th try it loads windows. Any ideas? When I check windows it says 6gb (4 usable).

Have you checked CPU socket for bent pins? What qpi/vtt voltage are you using?

Yes I checked cpu socket for bent pins and thats ok. I'm using 1.26 qpi.

1.26v qpi/vtt for ram@2000mhz? if so you will need more,for a dead ram slot its either not enough voltage,bent cpu pin/pins or theres a break in the copper traces in the pcb from the ram slot to the cpu socket,this is caused from the mb twisting or flexing or applying too much pressure when installing the cpu heatsink ect,i cant think of what else it could be,

if the cpu and memory are from the older system (EX58-UD5) Try more qpi/vtt. I think sin0822 showed the X58a-UD5 undervolts qpi/vtt voltage a tad bit. Maybe Tripple check the cpu socket.

Run memory at slower speed or up qpi/vtt votlage and see if that helps.

Ok, It turned out to be the board. I rma'ed back to store and picked another x58a ud5 from tiger direct. All memory accounted for now. That was a pain, but all is well now. I am ready now to put new board into my new modded case, Corsair 800d, xspc 480 and xspc 240. All inside. Pics to come. ?, I have a new vortex 3 ssd going into this machine, how are the sata three controllers on this board. Ooh yeah, thanks for all the suggestions and help.

There's two versions of the Marvell SATA 3 ports,the later version isn't too bad but its not as fast as the Intel sata3,you will have to test and post some read/write figures
