Hey Dane,
I have the same motherboard as you and am using 1600 DDR3 ( 3 sticks for a total of 6g ). I did the same thing as you ( and actually a good friend of mine with this board also did this) and thought of upgrading to 12 g and bought the exact same modules and put in my machine and it was very unstable. It turns out that the best thing to do was to buy the whole kit as one, even if the modules are the same but made at different times, it was said it "could" cause some issues. There are some post somewhere on this site regarding this.

This is partially true, since the sets are not identical their not guaranteed to work together. Wot I would try is to load your default bios and test each stick in slot one for at least four complete passes or until you get errors. If you get errors try all memory in slot 2 and so on. You might somehow mark the memory that errors.

Alright so heres what ive done:

Changed QPI-VTT to 1.315V (Started computer up, and black screen occured saying something about a critical error has occured because of either overclocking or high voltage.
Since I dont Overclock, I figured it was because I changed the voltage. So I changed it back to default.

When I try to uninstall Anything from the Gigabyte folder a little popup box that says "Open driver handle failure!" I dont know how to take screenshots of my pc to show you.

I ran a memory diagnostic, and it said there were no problems with the 3 new ones in the white slots.

Pressing the Print screen button on your keyboard will take a screen shot for you. Then just open up paint and paste it. Then you can crop what is not needed and save the pic. Then upload to a hosting site like imageshack.us or someone then post the link to here.

You need more than 1.315v qpi/vtt imo,I would start with atleast 1.35v,might need more

i dont think its your mb,maybe the voltages arnt correct yet

There are currently 2 sets of lights to the right of the sticks of RAM. Does this help anyone with further diagnosis?
my manual says its a NB Phase LED and DDR Phase LED

Green = good
Yellow = moderate
Red = bad

As you can see there are 2 green and 2 yellow but they are alternating?




This is what pops up when I changed the QPI/VTT voltage to 1.35 and 1.315 and 1.355.

Added one stick of new RAM and currently have 8gigs running now. 2 sticks are unused.

Slots are DDR3_1 DDR3_2 DDR3_3 and DDR3_5

What I think I might do is just try and return the new sticks of ram for money back, (doubt it will work with newegg). and just buy a complete 12g set.

If that doesnt seem to work, im going to buy a new mobo. :(

Those lights are just for nb loading or ram loading I think,not 100% sure,did you try with 1.3750v qpi/vtt? I needed that much for 12gb @1600mhz

Have you tried to set DRAM Voltage manually?

Ill try upping the voltage again, but is an 800 watt power supply enough for my build? I have no idea how to calculate how much voltage is being used, and I would hate to break something :(

And just to be sure when I up the voltage, you want me to put the other sticks of RAM in correct?

Yes put all sticks in,set qpi/vtt to 1.3750v and do what chike said and set dram voltage to 1.5v,don't worry about psu it has plenty power
