    I'll repost the following in the main forum... but do any of you know how or what to use to find lost disk space?

    Example: My B:\ Drive is a 750GB HDD (698 GB in windows)

    Right now explorer shows 304GB free of 698GB...
    698-304=394

    The problem is The is NOT 394GB of data being used on that drive; in fact, the sum of the contents of ALL folder within the drive only equal 161.1GB
    The remaining 232.9GB are COMPLETELY unaccounted for...

    and before you say it... I always keep all folders unhidden, including system files.

    Any idea?

    Windows no longer has scandisk...not WITHIN Windows anyway.

    It has ChkDisk... but no scandisk.

    Any clue what the command line command would be?

    Yes I meant chkdsk, run it with cutomatic error correction, that will schedual a scan for next boot.

    Just a thought. You may want to go into the Windows 7 drive. Make sure you are not copying Windows backup to the other hard drive. It creates a shadow copy of your Windows system to another hard drive. Several of these backup copies can take up quite a bit of space.

    elevated command prompt told me there are no shadows on my B:\ drive

    Postscript:
    My B:\ drive is kind of a transient drive... I store downloads there prior to sorting, organizing, and relocating them to one of my other 10 storage HDDs

    okay You may want to move all of your data you wish to keep from that drive to somewhere else and format that drive again. Also check for a disk utility for that brand of harddrive.
    examples:
    (Data Lifeguard Diagnostic) with a Western Digital hard driive.
    WD Support / Downloads / SATA & SAS / WD VelociRaptor
    (Seatools) for Seagate or Maxtor hard drives

    One issue.... As my transient drive for downloads, I need to wait until all my current downloading torrents finish before clearing the drive to format it; unless anyone knows how to effectively move currently downloading torrents in progress to a new location. lol
