If I remember correctly I believe there was a issues with the cpu sockets on some of the earlier X58 boards. I know it was a issue between the lotus or foxconn sockets. I dont remember what the problem was with out looking it up. But I think people were getting burnt marks on the cpu pads but I could be wrong.
When I started to read your post it almost sounded like a problem I was or still am having. I RMAed my PSU and while it was away, I reconfigured my water loop. I never touched the cpu but noticed higher core temps and the system was not stable at while overclocked. I remounted the block 4 times and notice little bit better temps but still not right. I had to drop my overclock down and it required a little more voltage then before. This is on my current board the X58A-OC board so I know the socket issue is no longer. I think my cpu just happened to degrade or something.
Edit - Just re-read your title and saw you have a X58A-UD5. So the socket issue should not be a issue for you either. If you dont mind it would help out alot of you could fill in your complete system specs in your profile or by your sig.

Since I have never removed the CPU and only started having issues 8-11months ago, how did these pins get bent?
