Have you tried updating the USB 3.0 drivers? It's also possible to update the firmware for the USB 3.0 Renesas chip this board uses, this might also help.
Plug the RC8 in the usb3 add on front ports or the motherboard rear port and it is immediately recognized. After a couple minutes rapid connect/disconnect starts and will not stop. If it is left too long, it will knock out the usb3 ports requiring a forced reboot to reset the usb3 ports.Appears to work just fine on usb2 but not usb3. Flashed the RC8 per SuperTalent's instructions but did not resolve the problem. Have two Muskin usb3 flash drives that have no issues so I feel it might be a compatibility issue with my computer and the RC8. Any suggestions as what to try or look for?

Sorry about the delayed reply. The past couple days, the forum would not load. Got it to load tonight but two attempts to post this reply did not work. Maybe third times the charm.
The only updates I have tried is thru win7 updates. Yesterday, I found that the Gigabyte has a bios update available that addresses usb3 compatibility issues. Not sure if this would fix my problem and also somewhat paranoid about bios updating as I have had issues with bios updating in the past.
Kicked the issue to Gigabyte support and man was that a joke. The support people need to actually read the postings. All I got from them was questions that I had already answered in my initial posting plus it took days to get a reply. Starting to think the gigabyte board was a big mistake and I bought two of them!
please read all stickies like this one which forbids RMA discussions RMA discussion banned

If you follow the proper procedures, flashing your bios with QFlash shouldn't be a problem. The only updates I have tried is thru win7 updates. Yesterday, I found that the Gigabyte has a bios update available that addresses usb3 compatibility issues. Not sure if this would fix my problem and also somewhat paranoid about bios updating as I have had issues with bios updating in the past.
BIOS Flashing - A "How To ~ Qflash Guide" details the best and safest way to flash your bios.
If you have any questions, we are here to help.
Can you test your Super Talent flash drive in a different system with full usb 3.0 support?
When contacting any tech support organization where English is probably a second language, it's best to keep it short and sweet using a list.
As an example (using the first post), I would submit my tech support request as follows:
Problem with Super Talent, model: RC8, size: 50gb, type: USB 3.0 flash drive installed in USB 3.0 ports.
- Inserted into front or rear usb 3.0 ports - recognized immediately.
- After 3 - 4 minutes the flash drive rapidly connects and disconnects.
- After 4 - 5 minutes more, the usb 3.0 port stops working.
- I need to reboot the system to restore the usb 3.0 port.
- There is no problem when using any usb 2.0 ports.
- There is no problem when using both of the Mushkin model xyz, nn GB USB flash drives in the usb 3.0 ports.
- Super Talent RC8 was then flashed per Super Talent's instructions, this DID NOT HELP.
I don't know what you wrote, but I'm posting this suggestion for the benefit of others.
I've seen many forum complaints that include "....they told me to perform the steps that I included in my request....".

Where did the OP mention an RMA?
Discussing an RMA as an option is OK.
Discussing problems with an RMA is forbidden!!
Clear?

Apologies if I crossed a line I should not have. Read your suggested link but do not see a connection to my comment. Could you please explain you comment so that it won't happen again? RMA was not mentioned. I never requested an RMA. RMA was and is NO part of the issue. I simply had an issue in that I requested suggestions as to a possible solution because I had ran out of ideas. The primary issue is the RC8 not the Gigabyte board of which I have two that work perfectly. The Gigabyte issue was their quality of support or rather lack of it. Personally, if I contact a mfg's support department, I expect them to at least read my request but again, it had absolutely NOTHING to do with RMA. Just need an explanation as to your issue with my posting because I have no idea what you are referring to.
profjim, I did do the F8 bios update per BIOS Flashing - A "How To ~ Qflash Guide" a couple weeks ago and had absolutely no problems with it. However it did not resolve my issue which I definitely feel to be a SuperTalent issue not a Gigabyte issue. I only contacted Gigabyte for suggestions not for an RMA.
