Problem with moded 6950 @ 6970 and Z77X-UD5H

My MB wont post if the 6950 is moded into 6970 ( bios switched to the 6970 one ). When i switch back to the original bios ( 6950 ) the board boots just fine with no problems . I should mention the fact that in crossfire with a 6970 it works perfectly, this is simply the first time i have placed the moded board alone in the slot and tried to boot.

Iv tried with F8d bios and the latest F8

btw i have no problems with wireless mouse and keayboard ( G7 and K800 )

The himself and here after upgrade in z68.(Z68XUD4.U1A)
I updated the bios to Z68XUD4.U1A and upon reboot got no video.
Long story short, when I flip the video bios switch on my 6950s back to the factory bios, I get video. When I have it flipped to the power up flashed video, I get no video. Interestingly windows boots and everything either way, just with no video coming from my cards when flipped to the 6970 bios.

So Drotaru you have 2 video cards, 1 6970 and 1 6950 (Flashed to a 6970)? Your only having problems with the 6950 (flashed to a 6970) only when its set to the 6970 firmware? I would contact Gigabyte directly and give them specific information about your setup and see if they can work out the coding in the bios to work with 6950's flashed to 6970's

Seems not the MB isue, i think the problem is the BIOS of HD6950 VGA card itself

so how come it worked for more than 6 months in a X58 platform perfectly well ? Prob is i sold the other 6970 so now i have no way of testing if something happend to this other card or not since when it was crossfire they both worked ( with the new Z77 chipset )

Is your 6950 the 1GB version or 2GB version

2 GB version Asus reference model
