This problem now seems to have been resolved.
It was apparently caused by the BIOS. However I must warn you if you are going to go down this route!
I upgraded the BIOS from F1 to F4.
When I did this it reset all the device drivers on the computer including the HID ones (mouse and keyboard).
So one is left without a 'pointing' device.
I had to re-install Windows.
But with F4 BIOS and the latest drivers of the Giga website, all now appears well.
