Did you install the latest Intel INF download for your motherboard?
Check the usb bios settings.
In windows Device Manager, are there any errors for usb devices?

This is the 3th time i'm trying to place an update. Hope i can hit the 'submit' button in time.

SSD is Working ...

Did a clean install also.
At the moment busy installing all my other applications/tools.

The SSD problem is solved, however.
Just ran into another problem: none of my USB sticks seem to be working (?)
They are ok in another system. Drivers will not install, in any way. (have to check the web if this is a known issue).
What does show up in the "safely remove hardware and eject media" are all my HDD/SSD drives. Is this because of AHCI?

Not sure about your USB problem, no issues here. The "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" will show our HD's because we're now using AHCI, yeah. Technically I think it's supposed to support hot-swapping so I could maybe remove a HD, for example a data drive, while my PC is on...not really sure. Never do it anyway, lol. Make sure your BIOS settings are correct for USB devices (i.e USB related stuff isn't disabled :o). I would also like to report that I still have 200gb free...can't for the life of me think what I should fill this HD with lmao. First world problems to the max.

I'm on the same train here, to add an ssd to X48-DQ6 for win7 OS drive,
so after a long time waiting and reading stuff about ssd's , ι finally bought a samsung 830 256GB
I didn't have the opportunity yet to make a clean installation (OS + programs and settings)
Right now i am on 2 velociraptors plus a couple of sata drives on AHCI intel ports with intel drivers to see how things work.
bios is F8i which is the latest ( provided in this forum )

When first installed win7 that came with msahci i did too saw in "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" my two internal HDD's
and found it very annoying.
That will change if you install intel's AHCI drivers (Rapid Storage Technology without Windows Manager , just update the .inf files)
Then if you have to Eject/HotSwap Sata drives from system ( i use 2 Hdd's one e-sata enclosure and one regular sata on 5.25" Hdd bay)
you can use a little program called "Safely HotSwap" that makes proper hotswaping like hard drive spindown and parking heads etc. things that
Windows Safely remove crap doesn't do (they just clear the cache)...

I think I read before in this forum that the Windows 7 AHCI drivers perform even better than the intel drivers.

I have read the opposite .....
specifically that msahci drivers perform better against jmicron or marvell achi drivers if i am not mistaken , not intel's ..

I've had no problems with my ssd using the msahci drivers.
Some claim that using the iastor drivers and setting up your boot drive as a single disk raid array will improve performance slightly.
I believe in K.I.S.S.
I installed my ssd in my P35 system just over 18 months ago and ssd performance and benchmarks are where they should be.

With win7, all of your hard drive partitions should be 4K-aligned to improve real world performance.
Check out post #44 in new SSD: OCZ Agility2 60GB (Extended Capacity) to see how much better performance was with my 4K-aligned hard drive. A 4K-aligned partition is automatically created when win7 creates a new partition. Many hard drive manufacturers offer a free version of partition alignment software, that will only work when you have one of their hard drives installed. You can run AS SSD and select each hard drive partition to see if it is 4K-aligned. If you see a number in the upper left corner of the AS SSd window with a green "OK", that partition is aligned for optimal performance.

Paragon Alignment Tool (PAT) v2.0 is somewhat buggy; v3.0 should work fine.
PAT is non-destructive, but if it is interrupted, one or more of the partitions can be corrupted.
You should take precautions to backup all data that can't be easily replaced or restored before you start to align one or more hard drive partitions.

Yes, the latest Intel INF package is installed.
Some USB sticks show an error 10.
Others work ok.

I'm not familiar with usb error 10.
A web search using: usb error 10 should provide a solution.
Let us know if this fixes the error and which approach worked for you.

Been trying all kinds of things: Ive got a card reader in my system as well. All sticks not working in the front ports (and backports) op my computer, work in this slot.
All sticks are formated different than fat32.
When formating one which does not work in front or back, as fat 32, it still does not work; it keeps working in yhe card reader though.

Also, non of my usb-hdu will work in the front usb.
Cant find an ansewer on the net.
Will try to do a fresh install of windows on the ssd (again).

There might be a problem with the front panel usb ports.
Try plugging the front panel usb cables into a different motherboard usb header.

It will help if you list the brand and model number for each usb and include how each one is formatted.
What is the brand and model number of the card reader?
How is the card reader connected to your system?
Which port is the card reader connected to?
When one usb drive works, try it in all usb slots and report the results.

You probably need to create a table that shows the results in a clear, logical manner.

If you have a usb mouse or keyboard, see if these work in each of the usb ports.
