Weird issue on new Guerrilla and Samsung SSD

Hi all,

I am having a weird issue on a new Guerrilla X58 and a Samsung ssd 830 128 gig installed on the Marvell port. I installed win 7, used the F6 option to load the Marvell drivers and installed the Samsung Magician software. I did the registry entry for the msahci set to "0" and checked that the mv91XX and also the mvs91XX were set for a startup of "0" as well. They appeared to be by default. Then I flashed my BIOS to latest.
After loading on the Magician software I started it up and found that it was claiming that the system was not in AHCI mode. It stated "Non AHCI mode" even though in BIOS it is set for AHCI. I did an ATTO run and found weird funky numbers.... check out the numbers below.. what the heck?
I aligned it before I installed win 7 just in case, but have no idea what is going on. The ICH10R gets better numbers than this. I have looked at other Marvell 9182 chipset benches and have never seen numbers like this. Any ideas anyone??? Any help would be great. Thanks!

have you tried without the marvell drivers? microsoft/windows will install its own drivers which should be better,i think you just uninstall and reboot and it will install them for you

Funny how Marvell, who makes the chipset, has such bad drivers, I should not use them...now thats sad.
Numbers are more in line with what I expected and have seen! Makes the upgrade worth it!

thats better,as good as intel sata3 ports,yeah the marvell drivers are poor,microsoft ones are much better

You should have cleared CMOS, then flashed the BIOS to F4D, then installed.

There has never been a speed problem with any marvell drivers on the 9182.

Windows drivers are garbage, just like anything windows does.

Have used all drivers on different boards for the 9182 and never had a problem.

Never had under 500 Read, 490 Write, but then again I have only used top SSD,s like Vertex 3, Wildfire, Kingston SH.


So what ever the problem was it wasn't the marvell drivers.

For the Marvell 9182:
The MS msahci drivers provide trim (for non raid configurations) but no hot swap.
The Marvell drivers provide hotswap but no trim.

Can't say I've ever noticed much difference in performance between the drivers but for me trim is more desirable than hotswap.
