Default Updating the BIOS and efiflash

    Hello All,

I have two questions, first is how do I find out the BIOS version that is shipped with Z77X-UD5H? The second question, is the efiFlash BIOS update the same process as Qflash?

    Thanks in advance,

    teknology19

Pressing the DEL key at POST screen then you will get into BIOS menu, you can check the BIOS version there. The EFIFLASH is for DOS mode, you have to boot to DOS mode from a DOS bootable device to run the EFIFLASH

Hi and thanks for the reply.

So it is just a case of pressing the End Key to enter Qflash and select the chosen BIOS version?

    Thanks in advance,

If you want to update the BIOS, yes, have the new BIOS version on a flash drive when you boot up and hit the end key when the splash screen shows or from within the BIOS. Then you can select your flash drive from the Qflash menu and the BIOS file and it will update.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Which BIOS version is the most stable? Should I start at F4 and go up to F9 or just go to F6 of which supports my CPU.

    Thanks,

The most recent bios version incorporates previous bios enhancements so you can flash directly to a newer bios.
In nearly all cases, the newest bios version will be stable.

Thanks for the reply ProfJim. Should I take the latest BIOS from this website or wait until it appears on the Gigabyte website in the UK?

For your Z77X-UD5H, F8 is the newest bios version from the GB website.
F9i is a beta bios that is available from GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
A beta bios from the thread usually doesn't have any issues, otherwise F8 should be fine.

Thanks for that Prof Jim. Just to clarify, if the motherboard is shipped with the F4 BIOS and a Pentium G620 is supported by the F5 BIOS how will I get the PC to boot if there is no CPU supported by F4?

If your CPU is not currently supported by the version that is already flashed, you would have to borrow a cpu that is support or find a local PC repair shop to flash the bios for you.

And yes as others have said please use q-flash for all bios flashing.
