Memory problem - only seeing 6 gigs

Hi All;

I have a strange problem perhaps someone has some ideas on. I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR motherboard, and have had it for a few years now, working fine. For memory, I have Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5C x 2 and Patriot PDC22G6400LLK x 2. This has all been working fine as 8 Gigs for some time now. I recently put the mother board into a new case, and have been running it fine there. But, I noticed that the Ram only shows as 6 Gigs. For some reason, the Patriot memory is only being seen as 1 Gig each. I've tried poking around at some of the Bio settings, but am not sure what I should be trying to change there.

All the memory is 800 Mhz, the Patriot is 4-4-4-12, the Corsair 5-5-5-18.

Any thoughts or advice?

did you remove the cpu heasink at all? sometimes if its overtightened it will cause you to lose memory,idk if it applies to upur mb/cpu as no internal memory controller,tried reaseating the memory/swapping the sticks around?

Yes, I did remove and re-seat the cpu when I put the system back together. I have tried removing all of the ram, reseating it, same thing. If I only put one of the Patriot 2 gig Ram chips in, it sees it as 1 gig. Could it be a voltage setting? It was working fine before as 8 gigs, I'm just not sure when the problem started, if it was when I moved to the new case, or before that.

seems strange its seeing it as 1gb,could be voltages but if it worked fine before and all youve done is switched cases seemslike something got moved or disturbed inbetween,could save all your bios settings(write them down or take pics) and clear cmos/remove motherboard battery for 30mins then try

could also visually inspect the cpu socket for bent pins but i cant see how it would affect memory on that mb/cpu but its worth checking to make sure,cant think whatelse you can try

Ok, thanks. Ya, I thought it was pretty strange too. I'll try clearing the BIOs, see if that helps...

Have tried re installing the Bios, an older Bios, and clearing out the Bios completely... still the same results. The CPU is pinless. I haven't taken it out yet, need to get some new thermal paste before I do.
Any other ideas out there?
