    Default gigabyte 890fxa-ud5 usb issues

    Hi,

I have the gigabyte 890fxa-ud5 I have today purchased this external HDD caddy: Akasa Integral S 2.5" USB 3.0 Enclosure. The motherboard powers up the device but fails to register it, I have tried the device in every USB port on the motherboard and the result is the same. The motherboard registers the caddy fine if I plug it into the front USBS on the case. When the device is plugged into any of the USB ports on the back of the motherboard the computer will refuse to start and just hangs at the windows splash screen. The motherboard has the latest BIOS version and all drivers are up to date.

I would be grateful if anyone could advise how I should proceed here for example if the issue is related to the motherboard or the caddy its self?

    Hi

The device is registered sometimes if I plug it into the ports on the motherboard however, when I attempt to view the data on the hard drive Windows Explorer crashes. I have checked the BIOS and its not even shown in there, but it works fine each time I plug it into the front USBS on the case, but this is not the ideal solution as the case ports are only USB 2 so wont achieve the full speeds of USB 3. Also sometimes I have noticed when attempting to connect it to the USB 3 ports one of the LAN ports on the motherboard refuses to connect at all to the network and does not even register that a cable has been connected to it. Gigabyte had the motherboard back last year because of the LAN port not working all they did was re flash the BIOS and said that everything was okay. I am currently in the process of looking for an alternative caddy to determine whether the current one is at fault or if there is something wrong with the motherboard its self.
