    i think llc overcompensates a little,you have to reduce dvid to suit,even then its tricky to get right

    Even without DVID the vcore will fluctuate based on what LLC setting you use. I was adjusting one of my rigs yesterday and set 1.28 vcore, High LLC. Running Prime 95 it would droop to 1.24x. Setting LLC to Turbo, it would droop to 1.26x.
    But even setting the vcore manually to 1.28 it may go up to 1.29x, here again depending on what LLC you use. That's why I just normally use DVID offset, you are going to get variance anyway so at least with DVID I can keep a low vcore at idle, for ever what that's worth.

    I have checked with a DMM on both my z77x-UD3h and the z77x-UP5 TH both boards with Vcore set to fixed voltage of 1.28v and LLC set to turbo on load DMM still reads 1.28 but yet the latest version of CPU-z (1.61.3) will show vcore drooping down to 1.26 this is not true.

    So if you want to use Fixed vcore and you want what you set in bios at load then use LLC Turbo. For what little bit I played with, it looks like LLC High is the way to go with DVID but I still need time to play.


    Turbo LLC + Fixed Vcore = What you set in bios at load.

    I'm still trying to become a DVID person. Any ideas on what else I should try? It would appear that Prime95 does something that IBT does not do that causes the Vcore to Droop/Drop or whatever below the 2600K threshold.

    When Prime 95 flakes out you have to either add more DVID or increase LLC. I normally never go above High LLC for x45.

    Boons right...if you use high llc it will droop more than if you use turbo. Therefore if you use high you will need more dvid than if you use turbo. But it mainly preference. In p95 if it fails its generally vcore but in your case it will need more dvid.

    Yeah, but what I was trying to show is that using LLC=LOW in the DVDI method I still get more voltage and heat that I do using an absolute 1.28V Vcore/LLC Extreme setting - although it is close enough to be an acceptable alternative. Also, I tried to show that increasing the LLC using the DVID method from LOW to MEDIUM to HIGH to TURBO causes the voltage (and Heat) to go beyond what I need for 4.5GHz. I'm afraid to even try Prime95 at one of these settings. As I have said before, I am attempting to keep the maximum core temperature around 65C under load. I guess my next step has to be a better cooler or 3000 rpm fans - just joking - I'll leave well enough alone.

    Yes on the DVID. I am on the boondocks plan,
    It all came down to my DVID needing to be +0.045 to run a stable 4.5 clock. By the way, you should run Prime for at least 18 hours before claiming stable. And then look at event viewer to make sure you had no WHEA warnings and you are good.
    My vCore tickles 1.236v under load.
