Default Z77x-UD5H and discrete NVIDIA Gpu not detected in slot #1 and #2

    Hi everybody.
My new motherboard does not detect any NVidia Gpu I tried to install whereas there's no problem with Ati's. I tried to insert NVidia and Ati GPU in pci-e and
both work on slot pcie #3 (x4) but only ATI Gpu works in slot #1 and #2 (16x and 8x) . Slots #1 and #2 are controlled by the CPU whereas slot #3 is controlled by chipset (Z77), aren't they? Could it be the problem, a compatibility problem? The gpu model I tried are: MSI GTS250, Asus GT520 512Mb, Asus GT510 1gb. I made several CMOS reset, tried different PSU, check all connections, cables, etc. but no Nvidia card has been detected. I also tried beta bios version 15d but didn't help. Maybe I should change some bios parameters but really wouldn't know what. Hope you can help me solve my issue soon or can help me some way. I also opened a ticket in Gigabyte support but I no answer yet. Best regards.

its probably a bios issue, your best to email gigabyte and tell them about it so they can test ect,or post in the beta bios section of this forum

    Thank for your reply.
I too think it's a bios issue or better, I hope it is.
I already wrote to Gigabyte and I'm waiting for an answer.
You think that all those MB have that kind of issue or is it a problem related to my MB only?

I guessed there would be some setting in bios setup to make my board to detect Nvidia gpu's...

    Cheers.

    Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Gigabyte tells me to check all connections, check cables, check PSU and tells me it might also be a short circuit!!!
Of course I made all checks before writing to Gigabyte.
They don't even mention it could be a bios problem and now I don't know what to do.

Could be an incompatibility between the nvida cards I tried (all pcie 2.0 on the other and) and the CPU or the HD4000?

    Plese advise me.

    Thanks a lot.

Which Nvidia driver version is installed?
Go to Drivers | GeForce and see if the Auto Detect method helps.
If auto detection doesn't work, manually select the o/s version and card model.
Be sure to uninstall all ATI and Nvidia gpu software before installing new versions.
After removing the drivers, I use Driver Sweeper in windows safe mode to ensure that all video driver "leftovers" are removed.

    Thanks for reply.
Unfortunately and as I tried to explain, my problem is not at drivers level. My Nvidia cards are not detected/recognized at bios/motherboard/hardware level if they're are installed in pcie slot 1 and 2. Everything's fine if card is being installed in slot 3 (4x slot with very few room for my card). On the other hand each Ati card I tested is detected and works perfectly in slot 1, 2 and 3.
I asked Gigabyte whether it could be a bios problem but they didn't answer me yet.
I would like to try whether a Pcie 3.0 Nvidia card would be properly detected but unfortunately I should buy one with the risk of having 2 Nvidia cards not working with my MB.

I tried to read over lots of forums for some incompatibility issues with my cards. I found many but no clear solution has been posted yet.

Any other suggestion will be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

I actually have same problem with an Ati HD 7950 card, system simply doesn't see it at all. Dual HD 6870's that I am using now work just fine with Z77X-UD5H and HD 7950 card works fine with Z68XP-UD4 system.

It looks like an incompatibility issue but between what? The MB and the cards or between the cpu and the cards? I wrote to Gigabyte and they made tests with the same Nvidia cards I own and in their system they are detected. Unfortunately they used a Sandy Bridge CPU (i5-2500k) and not an Ivy Bridge CPU like the one I own (i7-3770k). I know that Ivy Bridge CPU directly controls pcie slot and lines whereas in a Sandy Bridge environment it's the chipset who controls pcie (it is true, isn't it???).
I asked them to possibly test an Ivy Bridge Cpu and whether it could be a compatibility problem that could be solved with a bios upgrade.
I'll be waiting for an answer.

I should test with other cards but I cannot efford to buy several Nvidia cards just to see whether they work or not.

I hope someone could post their experiences.

Yes guy,I tried with F15d beta bios (the latest), I've tried everything. I also have no problem with a Ati 5870 but I need to use a Nvidia card (for cuda) and I have found no Nvidia card being detected so far. Can you try with a Nvidia card to see if it works?

    Thanks, bye.
