P67A-UD4-B3 PCI Express Gen 2 problems!!

So, I have a GTX 680,. running the latest WHQL drivers. I have it in the top most PCI Express slot, which according to the manual is the PCI x16 slot. For the life of me, I can't figure out what is holding this in x8 gen 2? I use GPU-Z to validate that it is infact staying at x8 even when stressing the GPU with FURMark.

Can anyone give any insight on what may be causing this?

make a note of all your oc/bios settings and try reflashing the same bios,sometimes the bios wont accept/save the settings idk if thats whats happening but it should run 16x speed

If I were a betting man I'd say it's likely you have a card(any type) installed in the second lower PCI-e x8 slot, PCIEX8.

Expansion Slots:
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.

I wish that were the case. I did have it in that slot at one time, but then I figured out that it was only 8X, so I pulled it out and put it in the 16X. I still don't understand what the problem could be. In any case, I'll be reflashing the 1st and secondary BIOS this week and hopefully that does the trick. Kind of getting annoyed! I know it doesn't change the performance that much, but every little bit counts when you're running a 27" monitor!! :)

Odd. So you're saying you do not currently have another PCI-e card in the PCIEX8 slot while at the same time the 680 is in the top PCIEX16 slot?

I know right!! Nothing in any slot actually, except for the 16x PCIe slot at the top (where the GTX 680 is)

dont you need an ivybridge cpu to get gen3 speeds??ahh nevermind its pcie 16x gen2 for that it doesnt matter what cpu you use

youve reflashed the bios and tried disabling usb3 to see if that has any effect?

I wasn't able to reflash just yet. I'll be doing this in a few days. (I did just turn on USB 3.0, but why would that have any affect on my PCIe speeds? I would think, buy the diagram that the PCIe slot is separate from the USB 3.0 bus?)

i read on another forum that disabling usb3 turbo boost helped pcie slot run at 16x,so its worth a try

Well, lo and behold . . . turning off Turbo Boost fokr USB 3.0 did that trick. Well, that's a crock of SH*T if I've ever seen one! Anyone know how to resolve this so I can hve the best of both worlds? I didn't pay for a board that wopuld limit my graphics power if I usded the Turbo boost for USB 3.0!!!

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated

Sorry it took me soo long. I got pretty sick and have been out of commission for a while.
