usb2 don't appear to be working

Hi, can anyone help me please?
About a month before christmas every thing worked fine.
Then my Cruzer slice stopped being recognized. Tried another one, no good. They work in other machines.
My Microsoft web cam works OK, as does a digital camera with it's own software, it seems that just USB mass storage devices don't.
I can't remember any updates or changes to my system.
I have now tried lots of stuff mentioned all over the internet, repair install of XP, updating drivers, unplugging computer from mains, uninstalling all USB controllers, etc, etc, etc......
I have now found out that if I uninstall my USB2 Enhanced Host Controller then USB mass storage devices work, I get the message that they will work faster in a USB 2 port though. I have tried updating this, and rolling it back, still doesn't work.
I have installed the drivers that the Gigabyte download centre tool came up with, no change.
I think that I need somehow to enable USB2 in BIOS but there is no setting for this.
My motherboard is a G41MT-D3 and the BIOS is dated 04/05/10. OS is Win xp sp3.

OK, update....
My BIOS is F1, the same as can be downloaded from the website.
The manual shows two lines in the BIOS for USB controllers, one 1.0 and the other 2.0.
Mine has only one line, USB controller, no mention of 1.0 or 2.0.
I have tried "Ctrl" + "F1" but this brings up no more options.
How do I get USB2.0 enabled?

Try to update Chipset with newer version of Intel INF installation.
Maybe this Intel® INF Driver 9.3.0.1026 ?

Updated Chipset to 9.3.0.1026, still no joy......

Why haven't I got the line in the BIOS about USB2.0 ?

Press CTRL + F1 at the main bios screen and then go to the Integrated Peripherals bios screen.
Do you see all of the following options?

• USB 1.0 Controller
• USB 2.0 Controller
• USB Keyboard Support
• USB Mouse Support
• USB Storage Function

Tried that, all I've got is the following.

• USB Controller (No mention of it being 1.0 or 2.0)
• USB Keyboard Support
• USB Mouse Support
• USB Storage Function

The Ctrl +F1 is adding new options to the menus, just not the USB 2.0 option.

Yea,you are right......(No mention of it being 1.0 or 2.0).
Only,according to BIOS F1...... Default is Disabled (so be sure is Enabled).

From the main bios screen, did you ever Load Optimized Defaults?
If you do this now, all of your current settings will be reset.
The missing options might appear after loading optimized defaults.

You can use F11 (Save CMOS to BIOS) and F12 (Load CMOS from BIOS).
This will let you save (F11) or restore (F12) your bios settings.
It's best to always have a hard copy of your current bios settings.

Page 21 in the motherboard user manual says: (Sample BIOS Version: GA-G41MT-D3 E7c)

At this point you should contact Gigabyte Tech Support and see what they have to say.

Yes I have tried loading optimized and default settings, still no change.

I sent a ticket into Gigabyte support yesterday, will try and link this thread to it.
