Default Can't overclock Q8400 with 8 gigs of ram

    CPU-q8400
    mobo- GA-Ep45-UD3P(v 1.1) with F10 bios
    Memory- Kingston hyperx t1 4x2gb (Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX T1 Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KHX8500D2T1K2/4G)

I had no issues with oc this chip and memory on my Biostar tp35d2-A7 mobo to a stable 3.7ish ghz. With this board(i assumed it was better) I can't even get a post with 3.4 ghz. I have tried almost everything to get it to stable out, but when I do get a oc that can post my ram isn't stable. Anyone have any advice?

Does the memory run ok at 1066 at standard settings?
I would see what the memory will do on the board at both 1:1 fsb..using a 2.00 multiplier and using 2.4 multipliers and maybe a 7x cpu multiplier.
Then see what the cpu will do with the memory underclocked..
Running the memory at lower than its rated speed wont decrease performance if you can tighten the timings and increase the fsb.

Initially I found .up to about 450 fsb was no real problem .After that a lot more tweaking at setting ref v's was involved.
    cpu speed of 3.9-4ghx ..1.37-1.4v.. perhaps..then 3.8 maybe only 1.32.

4 sticks complicates things.I only had 2 at very high clocks 4 sticks got much lower speeds but one set was only rated for 667 mhz.

OOh found an old thread :)
    EP45 UD3 and cheap?5300(667mhz) memory testing

This is the one I usually put up.
Kind of an old thread too.

775 quads and duals at hi fsb on ep-45 ud3
    check my disclaimers..

Im not "full overclocking" mine anymore..but no doubt PJim or other experienced ep 45 tweakers will post. Not much action on it now.

Did you look thru this thread?

Thanks for the reply. No, I can't get them to run 1066. These are what the mobo 2nd set of bios are set at. Thats pretty much all I have been able to use stable

With 8GB of memory, not all 1066MHz memory can run at its full rated speed.
Some found stability with 1000+ memory speeds.

I'm using 8GB of the same Kingston HyperX T1 memory running in my P35 system using 4-4-4-10 timings at 876MHz @2.20 volts.
Other than memory benchmark scores, there is no real world benefit using 1066 - 1100MHz memory speeds with cas5 timings.

Your memory is rated up to 2.20 - 2.30 volts.
MCH Core = 1.260 - 1.32 will probably be needed, use the lowest setting that passes extended stress testing.

The EP45-UD3P was one of the best overclocking motherboards in its day, but it takes some tweaking to get everything dialed in.
Check out the recommended basic settings in EP43-UD3L with Q9400 wont post, keeps rebooting, post #5.
