Try to use jedec timings, not xmp.
Is mobo post with 1 or 2 modules in DDR3_2, DDR3_4? If not - check your cpu socket pins.
I'm hoping someone can help before I have to RMA my GA-Z77X-UP5-TH...
The board will not POST or allow access to BIOS (error 51) with memory installed in dual channel config (DDR3_1 + DDR3_2 or DDR3_3 + DDR3_4 populated). It will only boot to BIOS and POST with DDR3_1 or DDR3_1 + DDR3_3 populated. I've tried various memory modules with no success:
Corsair Dominator Platinum CMD16GX3M2A2400C10
Crucial Ballistix Sport BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00C
Kingston HyperX T1 KH24C11T1K2/8X
I've also tried BIOS F11, F12e, F12g and F13a with no success yet all the above memory has been installed in a GA-B75M-D3H and boots correctly in dual channel mode. Gigabyte support have asked me to RMA the board after I tried unsuccessfully to reset CMOS and load optimised defaults - but I'd really like to avoid that if possible.
Below is a capture from the BIOS - note there is 1 stick in DDR3_1 and 1 stick in DDR3_3 but only Channel B is showing timing information?

Boot from a bootable optical or usb flash drive using Memtest86+ v4.2 and test one module at a time in each of the memory slots.

Have you tried booting with 2 x 4GB of memory instead of your 8GB modules?

this, you need to install two sticks in slot 2 and 4(second and fourth slot from cpu socket to front of the pc case)
then if it boots into bios set x.m.p for your memory if it supports it,save/and shutdown and install the other sticks, then see if it posts with all sticks installed

There's a youtube video of someone having incompatibility problems with the same UP5 TH and AX860i PSU... you could try a different PSU, if you have one.
Well I've re-seated the CPU and tried various RAM combinations again unsuccessfully (including the above) so I'll be contacting Gigabyte support to RMA.
Thanks for all your suggestions guys - I posted a reply at 6am this morning but can't see it now... guess when your luck is out it's definitely out!
Rale - it was Gigabyte support that suggested turning XMP on as I'd been trying with it off.
profJim - yes, tried 4Gb modules from Crucial and Kingston; same result.
Bravoexo - searched but couldn't find that video? PSU voltages are rock solid when monitored in Corsair Link software.

I suggest to you check jedec aka "standard" memory settings and not to "turn off xmp" (not use xmp at all) for 2400 OC.
CPU officially not support 2400Mhz. Thats why ALL those "OC" modules use xmp - to easy configuration.http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX24C11T1K2_8X.pdf
• JEDEC: DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9 @1.5V
• XMP Profile #1: D3-2400 CL11-13-13 @1.65V
• XMP Profile #2: D3-2133 CL11-12-11 @1.60V
DDR3 SDRAM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I run standard(jedec specs) DDR3 module without any xmp (timing profiles) at 2133-2400Mhz.
So its still unknown is your mobo can run dual channel or your cpu can handle all those modules at 2400 OC.
Or "tried various RAM combinations again unsuccessfully" also mean that you try standard memory profile and all memory sockets work?!

Hi Rale - my (limited) understanding is if the RAM is at default settings in BIOS then it will run JEDEC DDR3-1333 @ 1.5V - which is what I was doing without success before support asked me to try XMP? Note I can take the Corasir, Crucial and Kingston RAM that doesn't boot in dual channel in the GA-Z77X-UP5-TH and boot dual channel successfully in a GA-B75M-D3H.
