    Default USB3 - Ivy Bridge - Haswell

    Hello to you all,

This is my first post on the forum.
Normally I communicate much better in French.

I participate with the same user name on:
    Official GIGABYTE Forum - Index

I see, read and try to answer as best I can to request help.

But I'm modest. I prefer to consultation with others.
I see that there is a strong link between your forum and forum.giga-byte.co.uk.

    USB3 - Ivy Bridge - Haswell

Considering the following information: - The beginning information.

    Extract:
Through an official Product Change Notification (PCN) Intel has now confirmed that there really is a problem and that a solution is being worked on.
    ...
This solution will affect the delivery dates of certain products, and according to the PCN that includes the Z87, H87, Q85 and Q87, the C222, C224 and C226, and the QM87, HM87 and HM86.
    Source of extract:

Intel officially confirms USB 3.0 bug in Haswell : buildapc

    Extract:
The company (Intel) indicates the issues will not impact the release of the Haswell processor series, but it is of the intention of resolving this problem in a future processor stepping.
    Source of extract:

New hardware revision required to fix Haswell's USB 3.0 issues:
New hardware revision required to fix Haswell's USB 3.0 issues | Hardware.Info United Kingdom
    Extract:
In order to solve the issues though, a new chipset revision would be required. Intel describes the problem as a 'nuisance', and will fix it in a future chipset revision.

Considering the following information: - End of information.

    Description of the situation:
On the forum forum.giga-byte.co.uk, I see, I read several posts (topics) to the effect that the USB3 ports do not work at all. Otherwise, at a minimum, they work really bad.

(I might add that is essentially the same thing is happening with Sandy Bridge. Many problems with the USB3 ports.)
But I will not insist on Sandy Bridge in my message.

About Ivy Bridge. I see the same thing on several other forums. Very serious forums.

    User expectations.

Others wonder if it is the fault of the USB drivers provided by the Gigabyte website.

They wonder if it is better to use the drivers developed by Intel.
However, they do not know which are good for the Z87.
Me too, because this problem - situation.

(And Z77 chipsets where appropriate in the case of Sandy Bridge)

Many computer users expect that if the parameter settings of the current Bios provided by Gigabyte website is changed it will resolve the situation.

Other computer users expect that Gigabyte developed a new Bios. They hope that this will resolve the situation.

    Questions I ask.

I am wondering whether to also avoid installing utilities that are in link with the USB ports and especially USB3 ports.
    Like:

I know he necessary to install APP Center (Intel 8 series) before all other utilities in the following list:

    On/Off Charge™ / On/Off Charge™ 2 (Intel 8 series)
    USB Blocker (Intel 8 series)
    EZ Setup (Intel 8 series)
    EasyTune (Intel 8 series)

Questions about the Bios. - The beginning

Do you recommend that I propose to user computer to flash their bios.
If so, under the assumption that I suggest they flash the bios, the following facts are they valid:
    I put an example:

New bios for Gigabyte Z87X-OC -F5L
    Source: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
    Z87XOC.5l.7z

    Backup BIOS reflash:
    ALT+F10 - UEFI BIOS

    Thank you greatly ex58

    =======================
Or use @BIOS (Intel 8 series)
    GIGABYTE - Support & Downloads - Utility - Motherboard

Can you tell me what's really better to do.

    Tuto here:
How Do I Update My BIOS?
    http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.p...ic,2441.0.html

Questions about the Bios. - End

I think I'll wait for your comments before further development.
I do not want to lose through an uninterrupted flood of text.

If you have a How to, a manual, a guide, a tutorial that can help me to provide good answers, effective for the USB3 ports work on the Ivy Bridge platform via the Z87 or H87 for example ... let me know ...

I can not how to thank you for your estimable help.

    Hi and welcome to forum.

Is not first time INTEL release product with "bugs" (P67.... B2=>B3).
So far for Z87 system, is noted as you described in your post (USB3), plus bug with some of SSD (Sandforce controllers not recognised).
Not much we can do about that part, only updating with latest drivers (BIOS) and wait for INTEL to pass solution.

    For BIOS flashing,I prefer Q-Flash.

I believe the issues with resuming from sleep where 8 out of 10 drives did not recover from sleep. My system hardly ever sleeps so I probably wont ever see the issue.

Yeah. Well, like I say I don't use USB storage except sticks for flashing/moving programs etc. Sleep is something I've pretty much been using the last 6 months on a regular basis. At first I couldn't seem to get sleep to work on Z87, then it did. Not sure what's up with that yet but time will tell. Probably related to whatever problems I was having with my Samsung SSD's seemingly not being recognized properly but that seems to be cleared up.

You will read or hear different descriptions as to how many usb flash drives won't wake from sleep properly.
FWIW, I was watching an Asus Overclocking video today and the Asus engineer said that they hadn't been able to reproduce the wake from sleep problem in all of their Q-A testing and that apparently it is a very small number of usb flash drives that don't wake from sleep properly. The flash drives that have problems don't loose any data but they need to be ejected and re-connected and the data remains intact.

The "fixed" chipsets are tentatively scheduled for late July or early August but the only way that we will probably know is when "fixed" motherboard models have a slightly different model name, similar to the "B3" designation with the fixed P67 motherboards several years ago.

A web search using haswell usb 3.0 issue will provide more information.

Intel 520's recognized fine on my Z87 board, in RAID 0 too, as OS volume.

IRST 12.6 has problems with RAID, no longer on Intel's download pages.

I tested USB 3.0 flash drives (Patriot, Centon) with Sleep and wake on my Z87 board, worked fine.
