As I recall, DDR3 memory for your motherboard model often required dram voltage in the 1.80 volt range and I don't think that newer memory kits are designed to run with that much voltage. To avoid memory compatibility issues, you should contact tech support from memory manufacturers to see which kits have been tested with your motherboard and are still available.

You can use the forum's advanced search feature to search for EP45T in the thread title to see which memory kits worked successfully and the required dram voltage settings. Don't use the default Search Entire Posts option, use the Search Titles Only Keyword(s) option.

    Hi,
    I currently have G.SKILL F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO,
rated at 1.35v, and actually set at 1.5v.

I was originally looking at replacing it with: F3-1600C8Q-16GAB
    Ares - F3-1600C8Q-16GAB - G.SKILL DDR3 Memory

But I noticed that GSkill do Ram of similar spec but in Triple & Quad Channel.

    So.
Will Triple or Quad Channel ram work on my board?

You can send a PM to G.Skill - Matt W a n g, include a link to this thread and ask him to reply in your thread.
If it will work, I doubt that running 1600MHz ram will make much of a difference with your EP45T-USB3P motherboard.

Maybe and no. From your board's information page:

Natively support dual channel DDR3 2200+ for remarkable system performance

Your socket 775 board has two memory channels, A and B, the end.

Socket 1366 boards have three (triple) memory channels, and socket 2011 boards have four (quad) memory channels. That's it on the triple and quad channel boards.

As Prof Jim said, ask G.SKILL if those DIMMs will work in your board, they might. But will you ever run in triple or quad channel? No.

You can use two DIMMs per channel, but you only have two channels. Plus your P45 chipset is dual channel only. Number of DIMM slots is not equal to the number of channels. (Except for a few X79 boards with only four DIMM slots, and some older boards with just two DIMM slots.)

If a quad channel kit costs more than four matched DIMMs for two channel boards, it is not worth it at all!

Triple channel memory kits come in sets of three or six DIMMs, how does that work when you have four DIMM slots?

Triple and quad channel memory is just a matched set of DIMMs for triple or quad channel boards. Memory does not provide channels, boards and memory controllers do.

Thanks for the education parsec :-)

In that case I think I might try this Dual channel kit.

    F3-1600C8Q-16GAB

    Memory Type: DDR3
    Capacity: 16GB (4GBx4)
    Dual Channel Kit
    Tested Latency: 8-8-8-24-2N
    SPD Speed: 1600MHz
    SPD Voltage: 1.50v
Features Intel XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) Ready

Basically I am after a 16gb set, with low latency, and a decent speed,
    nothing silly.
This is for my aging DAW rig, latency with music production Is important (see sig).

Please post back and tell us how 4x4g (16g kit)worked out for you.Like to know if this board can run 16gig at 1600mhz stable.
Had my Kingston 4x2g sets up to 1750mhz , but they are rated for 1.65volt.
I see your bios is F2D, could you post a link to where that is? All I can find is F2 bios at Gigabyte Website, and beta or modded here.
What does the F2D add to the bios?

    Hi,
I'm still hoping to find some positive advice, from those that know, on the ram compatibility before paying out 160 lol.
I'll have a look for the bios when I get back for you.

    For everyones information,
supahos on the GSkill forum helpfully pointed out:

"All DDR3 memory is capable of quad channel, tri channel, dual channel, and Single. Its up to the board, and how many sticks you have (Need 4 for quad). But if you have a dual channel Motherboard and put 4 sticks in it will create 2 sets of dual channel memory at 8 GB a piece in your case. The only advantage in buying a quad kit is they are guaranteed to all work together, if you buy 4 separate sticks this is not the case."
