Default Something Doesnt seem right with RAID0

Hope someone can answer this, or tell me if this is even right, Im using 2 x OCZ Agility 3 in RAID0, both identical drives with identical firmware, the performance just doesn't seem to be there, ive tried block size of 64k, 16k and 128k, currently on 128k, but they all gave roughly the same results, I seem to have a major slow down at the beginning of the drive and the As SSD benchmark is no where near what others are scoring, any idea's what might be wrong.

    System specs are above.

The problem is with your OCZ Agility 3 drives that use asynchronous Nand.
AS SSD uses incompressible data and this test provides worst case results with asynchronous Nand ssd's.
There are many AS SSD web benchmarks that show that asynchronous ssd's have noticeably lower scores.
Don't get hung up on the sequential read/write scores, the small file 4K scores are much more important.
Keep in mind that newer synchronous and toggle Nand drives have significantly higher IOPS scores and are much faster.

The Intel sata3 ports will provide better performance than the Marvell (GSATA3 6~9) ports.

I noticed there are no shortcuts on your desktop,is this a fresh install and if so have you actually installed an RST driver or are you using the windows default one?

This is a fresh install, yes, but I never put shortcuts on my desktop, it actually slows boot times down as the computer whilst loading has to remember what's there and there location etc.

The IRST drivers are installed, took the ones from the gigabyte site as they are newer than the ones on the supplied disk.

Thanks for your help so far guys.

Prof Jim's post really covered it all, it's all about the Agility 3 and its async NAND and AS SSD's use of only non-compressible data for testing. The non-compressible data has a large affect on any SandForce (controller) based SSD. The average distribution of compressible to non-compressible data in the real world is about 60% - 40%.

The ATTO and HD Tach benchmarks, which use all compressible data for their testing, show better results. Those results and the AS SSD result are normal for an Agility 3. The type of data used for testing, compressible and non-compressible, is the main difference between these benchmarks and their results with your SSD.

The lower speeds shown by HD Tach at the beginning of its test is due to data being stored on the SSD on the first ~20GB. The offset shown in AS SSD shows you have an OS installed on the RAID volume, so that makes sense.

There is very little to nothing that can be done to change the results you now have.

the atto benchmark looks right, the as ssd favours non sandforce controlled drives,

    Oh yes there is!

Look at the Anvil disk benchmark settings on the left side of the window and you will see that you can select the compressible/non-compressible ratio for your test.

Also note that you can run Trim from within Anvil.

Anvil's Storage Utilities thread at XtremeSystems, has almost 500 posts and a lot of additional information.

Thanks for your help guys, you've explained a lot.

My main concern was the slow down at the beginning of the drive, Thanks to Parsec for clearing that up.
