How do I repair "Error 10106 - The requested service pr

This is on the computer I'm considering wiping and reinstalling...

It also tells me, of course, that it could not start the service.

this error appears in "Services" when I attempt to manuallly start "Simple TCP/IP Services."

...

I also get Error 126, "The specified module could not be found" when I try to start the SMTP service...

Needless to say, my main frame remains offline....

If this happens at start up go to run and type "msconfig" without the speech marks find the program u don't want to load and disable it.:cheers:

The problem is that I WANT the TCP/IP services to load. That they aren't loading is my Number One suspect as to why I've lost connectivity to the internet with that computer.

I need to know how to eliminate this error... or if reformating is my only way out. (I'm backing up my C: drive even as we speak, but its a real PITA to go thru this.)

The TCP/IP stack has likely become corrupted (happens now and again) so just uninstall it and then reinstall it again. ;)

What OS are you on? I didn't see it in your post. Win 2000, XP, or something else?

from a DOS box issue the command "netsh int ip reset c:\log.txt" without the quotes:

Then re-boot and see what happens.

A dumb question to ask but have you got IIS admin service installed?
Please check it in your services section.
