Memory Upgrade

OK this is the problem, i currently have one:
NCP 512 MB PC3200 DDR 400 MHZ MEMORY PC-3200
and i was thinking of buying a 1gb Ram Stick but i dont know if u can have 2 different types of RAM running on one motherboard

Motherboard: Gigabyte 8S648FX-RZ
It has 3 RAM slots hold a max of 3gb at 333mhz.

And the last time i tried mixing ram on my last computer it kind of went boom.
My processor and motherboard were short circited

should work,as long as you have them running at the right speed. worth noting that ram with two different sticks at speeds will run at the slower ones speed,so if overlocking make sure of the slow speed. does the mobo run the current stick at 400mhz?


hang on, i just checked your board out and it supports 2gb at 400mhz, so another pc3200 stick should run fine. i had a board with the same chipset and 2x 512 pc3200 worked fine for me,different makes

If it's not in dual channel (which you don't have) then no it does not matter. As long as the two are PC3200 you are fine.
