    Hey guys

Now thing is, I've tried using exactly the same settings with 4.0GHz, only with a voltage increase to 1.30000V. It boots up into windows and I can play a few games, but after a while I eventually get a BSOD under heavy load.

Thing is, I don't know what to increase and how much to do so. I'm guessing that 1.30000 vcore can stay, as for the rest - I don't know, I know I have to do something with the memory and stuff, but oh well.

Need some help guys, would appreciate it. :)

Re: Need help getting UD3R+E8400 to 4.0!

That RAM is rated at 800MHz and your running it at 852+?? That could be your problem... Also try ticking PCI Express to 101 or 102.
Are you using Load Line Calibration?
Also can you post your system specs in your sig?

Can you post a screen capture of MemSet main window?
Memory settings are far from optimized.
Have you ran Prime95 turtores, which and for how long if you have?
      Other, tests like IBT/LinX?
The memory will probably need a bit higher voltage.

Yeah, running it at 852, how else would I run it though, as I'm on 426x9. And would that pci-e 101 or 102 really help? :D Load-line calibration is disabled also, from what I've heard it's only useful in the upper vcores (higher than 1.35 or something).

I'll post the memtest pic soon lads!

MemSet not memtest, you can download it from http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ity-tools.html

I think you're going to need higher MHz ram for 4.0ghz
PCI at 101 has helped many with a stability issue.
Also try upticking the CPU and MCH Clock skews to 90ps and try, you may need more skew

Hmm alright guys, I'll try 101 PCI-e once I know what to do with the other settings aswell (once you guys help me out with 'em). And is upticking the clock skew to 90ps a good idea?

Here's MemSet though: (I ran 20 minutes of MemTest (lol) and it seemed to be stable with 0 errors)

              Thanks!

a little skew will help sync your clocks.
also is that ram stock at 1.9v? If so you're going to need to bump up the ram voltage if your pushing it past 800...

have you ran prime95? LinX? What are your temps?

Re: Need help getting UD3R+E8400 to 4.0!

As you can see tRD(Performance Level in MemSet, Static tRead Valu in BIOS) is grayed/disabled.
Try to set it to a value in the range 12-9. Begin hige and keep trying lower, both channels.
Usually it will not boot at too low value and work at the one above it, but sometimes need to be 2 values up.
This is a performance settings, you can see increase in bandwidth and lower latencies with memory benchmarks, like MaxxMEM² - PreView, or other.
Run Prime95 blend torture 8+ hours on the lowest setting you find.

                    Nope, ram is 1.8v @stock.

I haven't ran prime95 yet, because I'm kinda lazy and (although I could leave the PC on for the night) I am pretty sure the system is stable currently (with the 3.83 Stable OC by Outer Marker). Would you guys happen to know if I need to increase any other voltages? And also, what about those driving strength profiles?

                    Cheers!

Driving strench profiles sometimes help to lower tRD, but this is BIOS dependent, you may try set them to 1066 and see if it help to lower tRD and performance are better.

Re: Need help getting UD3R+E8400 to 4.0!

Just having a look at this, and here are my thoughts:

The 800 MHz rated RAM is going to be the limiting factor in this setup for sure, but the fact that you can boot to Windows means your memory has more we can squeeze out of it. We'll just need to relax the timings a bit.

First, if you'll allow me, let me suggest that you start with a 432 x 9 clock on the 2.00 D strap. This will give you 3.88 CPU, which in real world benchmarks will be identical to 4.0 CPU. Keep voltages the same as you have already set.

Memory timings are okay at 5-5-5-15

Static tRead should be increased to 12 on both A & B channels

Try that. If still no joy, then bump DRAM voltage to 1.91V

Let us know how you get on.

Alrighty man! :) I'll definitely try that, seems like a good start. Just what I needed.

If that works, could I try bumping the cpu up to 445? (And what about setting the pci-e to 101 and that clock skew thingie to 90ps? Are those necessary?)

                          Thanks again man

EDIT: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=3993830 what do you think of that? I'm still not sure whether to upgrade to the Sapph 5850 Xtreme from the GTX 260 Core 216.

EDIT2: I'm definitely thinking of getting the Sapphire HD6950 2GB now! I would just have to add another 100 euros. (Compared to the 5850 Xtreme 164$, 6950=317$) Would be a major upgrade then. I think it's worth it cause I would flash this card to a 6970 baby.

Or maybe I should wait with upgrading the card?

If they do, should I just try bumping the cpu up to 445 along with the vcore to 1.3v? And increasing the rams vcore a bit? Or we will see in the process?

I'm gonna try those things you gave me though.
