  • Memory upgrade for gigabyte EP45T-UD3P

I would like to upgrade my memory to DDR3 2200 ,4g.
Right now I am running 4 gigs of G skill DDR3 1333 1.5v.Can anyone tell me the best brand to buy and will they work out of the box as the G skills did?
If not what BIOS setting will I need to change? Thank you

Here is the supported list of memory for your board. You did not specify if you have rev. 1.0 or 1.1 of your board. It might not make much difference but something that should be specified. I looked up version 1.1. http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList...ep45t-ud3p.pdf

Now just because it is not on the supported list does not mean it will not work. Just means Gigabyte has not test the memory.

Usually anything G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston, OCZ should work fine.

To begin with, 4GB DDR-2200 would not work out of the box, probably won't work at all. This requite FSB 550MHz.
DDR-1600 or DDR-1800 if you are lucky, are more realstic. You will have to overclock to get this rates, unless your CPU has a native FSB of 1600 (like QX9770/QX9775)

Yes ,I have rev.1.1 and FSB of 1600,1333,1066,800.
        CPU Q9550
        memory support -DDR3 2200,1600,1333,1060,800.

I wouldn't recommend investing in new memory for this system, it is 2 generations old.
By pushin FSB you will get better memory performance and a slight OC for the CPU.
This depends on the CPU temperatures.
If you wish to OC please add your full system specs to your signature, and attach a CPU-Z text report (CPU-Z -> About tab -> Create Report (.TXT) )

Thanks Chike,I think I'll leave well enough alone.
Overclocking seems to cause glitches ingame.

No problem. Memor b itself has very little effect on gaming for the Core 2 CPUs.
There is a theoretical limit of DDR-1333(10666Mb/s) with 333MHz FSB, practivally it is lower(~7500MB/s).

If and when you change your mind feel free to revive this thread or start another one.
