Help Overclock 24/7 - GA-Z68XP-UD4 - i7 2600k

Hello everyone, I'm Mariano from Argentina, come to ask some help to you aver experts can solve many problems if I'm having with my new PC.

I have some experience overclocking, but since I changed to this PC I'm really lost :(

I have tried many settings correct and it is very strange that all I do is wrong. So surely I need help from someone who has this motherboard. My problems go through the mother, I'm pretty sure.

For this reason I am going to ask users who have my mother-UD4 GA-Z68XP or similar ... tell me exactly what configuracioues used in all overclocking options.

My goal is to get a good overclock in 24/7.

Have you looked over any overclocking guides? Like this http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...56-1366-a.html. As alot of them have a wealth of information.

Im sorry but overclocking is not as easy as asking "Give me your working setting" as each hardware piece is different even if its the same brand and model. Yes it could give you a base line but you wont know if you need more voltage or less votlage. Possibly you might push your system farther then it would like to go.

This is why I suggest all users to start from stock settings and slowly start raising the fsb/bclk or the cpu multi and doing a test in between to check for stability.

If you get stuck at a given OC and can not get past you can post your current settings that are failing you and we can look them over to see if you may have over looked something.

Another thing that will help if you specify what speed overclock are you looking for. I suggest a little reading or maybe someone with similar settup can help.

Please dont take anything I said negatively I only say this as it will help you out later down the road with pushing this system further or help with the next system.

Hi!

I have the Z68XP-UD3P (and i7-2600K), quite similar to your configuration and now I OC it on 4.3 with Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. C.
I have found a pretty detailed review and OCing guide about my mobo, you can use it too I guess:

Leave the memory speed at 1,333 first to see if your CPU is stable, then you can change the memo speed too. First changing the memo speed cause me crashes, now my stuff is totally stable on 4.3 Ghz and the memo is on 1,600! Have fun!

Hi!

I am new to this forum and I read this thread some days ago and wanted to get a problem solved.

I recently bought the Z68XP-UD4 together with the 2600K and also a Corsair SSD 60Gb SATA3 in cash RAID with 1Gb SATA3.
I kept my Corsair TX650W PSU, my 4Gb Corsair CMP4GX3M2C1600C7 memory and my ATi HD 4870 X2.

I started to get problems right from the start actually.
My monitors lost their signal and turned to standby after a minute or two.
This also happened while I was in BIOS menu.
The computer also froze as I could not get it to react on keyboard inputs.

Then I took out the graphics card and put in a simple ATi HD 5450 and NO PROBLEM with blackout!!!
I started to think.. what the H*LL!?!?!?

After some time I was getting very hungry for some gaming and but in my 4870X2 again and it worked.
...well, at least until I tried to get my memory to run in its XMP 1600 instead of the 1333 that the motherboard wanted. Then the problem was back with screen blackout.
Also if I hooked up another hard drive, same problem.
Trying to overclock the CPU, same problem together with a message on boot that the frequencies caused a problem that made the motherboard switch back to standard.
Overclocking and adding more hard drives with the lesser HD 5450 graphics card produced no problem what so ever.

The problem seems to be that my new setup can't handle and drive the HD 4870X2 if strained with extra hard drives or even with the slightest overclocking OR XMP profile for the memory.
I tried to run the 2 extra power couplings to the graphic card from a separate PSU but without any luck.

Can it be that my Corsair 650W PSU are to weak???

Please try to help me out! :)
