  • windows 7 time control

Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good free software that will work in windows 7 as the parental controls for time restriction give no leeway.I want to be able to let my son go on his laptop at certain times but this resticts time to between hours like say 10am until 11am but I like to change the setting to say at the night time from 6.30pm until 10.30 pm for example at weekends Thanks in advance

Hi I've done that but my sons autistic and has routines like going to bed at a certain time but he can't grasp the fact that his computer is going off and he needs to save his stuff (he also has a learning disabilitiy) also he has to have his tea between half 5 and half six otherwise he has a meltdown if it's changed so I was hoping that there was a free software to tweak the time control on windows 7

Look for Parental Controls that should help you somewhat: Parental Controls - Windows 7 features - Microsoft Windows

at least that covers the built-in stuff.

This looks like it would fit your needs nicely, and has lots of other options too if needed!

Anytime! Ya, while I was looking around I found that, and it looked like it has some very in-depth options, so I thought it would work for you very nicely!

Let us know how you like it, in case others ask in the future, thanks!

Nice to hear you like it! As for the beeping, Im not sure since I've never used it, see if you can find the warning noise in it's settings, I'm sure it's probably there and customizable to where you can set it to any sound tone or song file.

If not, check windows sounds individually (Control Panel, Sound, Sounds) and see if you can find the warning beep, then you can change from there or disable

I am having similar issue with my children... they feel very restricted so I've just talked and explained to them why I'm doing it.
This is way better than any other parental control.

I agree that an honest talk with the kid is the best way to ensure that he/she will be safe and dont overuse the computer. However concerning a parental control, I would choose one of these: Open dns or PCWebControl. Unfortunately those are not free software but are the most reliable and easy to use.
