    GA-X58A-UD5 Rev1 - Am I asking too much?

    I've been running this rig for a couple of years, recently up the RAM to 24Gb without problem. Recently decided to add a couple of Vertex 3 SSDs and turn the existing 2x 1Tb segates into a RAID 0 volume. I had to try and found out quickly the SATA 3 chips is way too flaky so everything is on the Intel SATA 2. I'm using it to write this but I still get a BSOD STOP F4.

    Is there anything I should be looking at? I used the info from the forum to get the latest BIOS F8b and the latest Intel drivers. BIOS settings are optimized defaults except for memory profile 1 to get 1600. Do I need to teak some voltage settings?

    Any help appreciated.

    When does the problem begin? if you disconnect the 1TB drives does it still happen, with a single SSD does it happen?
    It may be a result of the amount of ram + settings or it may not. Have you ran any kind of stability tests?
    What does Profile QPI Voltage in M.I.T -> Advanced Memory Settings shows?

      QPI/Vtt is 1.175 Auto. The BSOD will always show if I try to do a full scan of the system. It starts OK going through the SSD OS partition but crashes when it gets some ways through.

        I did not ask what QPI/Vtt default is, I have asked what is Profile QPI Voltage.
        If you have EasyTune installed check what is QPI/Vtt target voltage. Please post a screen capture of ET6 -> Advanced -> Voltage tab if you can.
        F4 means some system process ended unexpected, could be driver. It may be due to memory settings, or other hardware seting, or just a software/compatibility issue.
        Try to run Prime95 large FFT torture and see if you get any errors.

          Are you using quality SATA Cables, with metal locking latches?

            Last night I ran Prime 95 100 % CPU without problem. On your advice I replaced the SATA cable to the main drive and ran a full scan, problem sorted. Classic case of looking too deep for a problem.

                Well I was using the 4 bays in my Corsair 800D case and the supplied cables didn't have clips. I'm using cables with clips and that's OK for the mobo end but they have nothing to clip to at the other. I'll see how I go but maybe I'll need to remove the supplied PCB and connect direct to the drives. I ran a major restore from backup over night and no problems so I think I'm good for now. Cheers.

                  Yes, I would connect directly to the drives, especially for your OS drive anyway.
