  • EP45-UD3P Sound Card Problems

first thanks for all the good information here

i'm having some problems with my GA-EP45-UD3P and i'm thinking about been a bios problem
my onboard sound is not recognized by windows... it just appear nothing, not just a driver problem which shows in driver manager

i solved this problem once but i can't remmember how i did... all i can remember is that i did crazy things
including flash the bios with the same version i had then as soon as i boot i get into bios and read optimezed... but this happens some years ago and now i decide to "revive" my old board(it was kept since i jump to a new platform) because i got a Q9550 and i want to test this child...LOL

so i'm thinking about do this process to let backup bios be copied to the mains just to check is there is some problem with that or is just my imagination

i'm scared to short this 5-6 pins... is there any risks on this process?

just to make sure i understand...
i short 5-6 and turn on the computer(case Power On swtich) and i release the short? or i keep the short until it decide do copy the backup to the main?
thanks in advance i'm just scared to make this process

if you guys have another advice for me please let me know
and yes i already try to clear cmos, and get the new drivers for the sound, all that stuff
and just for the record i had this problem before and i manage to fix taht... just can't remember how i did

    Re: EP45-UD3P Sound Card Problems

I moved your post to this new thread where we can help you with the sound card problem.
The dead dual BIOS thread is not the place to diagnose problems that are not related to backup bios recovery.

We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the PC Specs portion of your forum profile http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile.php?do=editprofile at the bottom of the profile page or in your forum signature http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile....=editsignature.

      Re: EP45-UD3P Sound Card Problems

thanks for move my post to a brand new thread, now i realize that is the most correct thing that i needed to do earlier but you know when we have a problem sometimes we get some blurry on mind....LOL

my current BIOS version is F10
and i'm pretty sure is a bios related problem since i fixed it once and i remmenber something about messing with the bios
i end up here because of a deep google research so i search a few threads on forum, actualy a lot of threads, and maybe i will try put the F6 version of the bios because i heard that is most stable version... i dunno if i get wrong, but at least i will try some move

any help is welcome and any suggestion too

      my system is
      Q9550 + 4GB RAM HyperX + GA EP45 UD3P rev.1.1
      PSU corsair 550W

      thanks for all your help

        Re: EP45-UD3P Sound Card Problems

Suggest to try reinsatlling the OS and drivers, if still the same, i think you have to rma the mobo suspect both main and backup BIOS chips are faulty

          Re: EP45-UD3P Sound Card Problems

I remember the F6 bios discussion. I was one of several that said they they found no benefit with the F7 bios.
As I recall, no-one ever said that F6 was the most stable bios.
The EP45-UD3P board was a very popular motherboard and newer bios versions were stable with very few reported problems..

Make sure that on-board audio is enabled in your bios.
Uninstall the current RealTek audio software/dirivers and install more the most recent version.

RMA-ing the motherboard probably isn't an option.
The warranty period in the USA is 3 years from the date of manufacture.
I don't know how long the warranty is in Brazil.

What is the brand and model of your speakers?

Please create a detailed hardware list as I requested in my previous post.
Providing detailed information will let us better help you.

              Re: EP45-UD3P Sound Card Problems

Glad to hear that the F6 bios fixed your sound card problem.
There are several other possible solutions, but you'll be fine with F6.

Self taught English? You're doing a lot better than if I tried to teach myself any other language.
