Fitting 4 (+?) 3.5" drvs in the Shuttle SH87R6?

    Fitting 4 (+?) 3.5" drvs in the Shuttle SH87R6?

    Hi I move around alot but am not a fan of laptops so got a Shuttle SH87R6http://global.shuttle.com/products/productsDetail?productId=1707 which kind of suits my needs. The one thing that is bugging me is its factory drive capacity setup. Two things I'd like to consider:
    #1 Find a 5.25" bay rack/adapter that would allow me to fit two 2.5" and one 3.5 drive (I have some 1tb 2.5" drives I'd like to use up) so that is question one as I have only been able to find racks that support one 2.5" and one 3.5"
    #2 Alternately I was thinking about trying to just stuff a cage (5x3?) in there as I also have a few 3.5" drives but as it comes its not setup to take a cage so I was hoping that someone might have some ideas more creative than my "bolt it in" idea (which could be messy as I don't have a bunch of tools and am not the handiest of individuals).

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

    Whether or not it might suit your needs, well ........
    #1 - Please, when seeking help, enter the make and model of ALL parts that your system is comprised of in your Signature, or at least the model #'s in your System Specs, then "Save' it.

      That case looks awfully tight inside for too much expansion to be happening.

        Thanks for the suggestion, that isn't quite what i was looking for but better than I've been able to find so far.

        As for the case size, it is indeed a compact case but I measured it out and I should be able to fit in a 5x3 cage (or at least a 4x3) so long as I do not add some big card (which I have no plans to do, other than perhaps a small port multiplier card), if i can't figure out anything better I will probably just bolt in some drive cage.

          Just an FYI, I managed to find exactly what I was looking for from Silverstone tech, SilverStone Technology Co., Ltd.- SDP10 simple, cheap, and supports the 2.5"+2.5"+3.5" drive configuration in a 5.25" bay

            There ya go. Good find.

            That Shuttle accessory "page' linked is rather misleading. Whereas the linked pdf shows the true feature, that being it also has another 2.5' mounting below it, making for two 2.5 per.

            That Silverstone is even better in that you also keep the 3.5 plus two 2.5.

            For future 2.5 expansion you might also look among THIS or THIS ingenious means too. Just beware the Orico one is sold 3rd Party and will take some time getting to you. With the room provided over the PCI-e x1 slot either looks likely to fit fine and not interfere with a single slot GFX card.
