  • C2550D4I fan speed issues

    Hello,

I have bought a C2550D4i motherboard last week and i have 2 issues with the fan speed control. I have connected two Bitfenix Spectre Pro PWM to the motherboard but:
    • sometimes the speed don't going down after booting.
    • when the speed going down, the two fans don't remain in this state and the speed going up at the maximum rate after 1 or 2 hour of use.

The fans are connected to the CPU_FAN1 and CPU_FAN2 sockets
This sockets are set up to "Smart Fan" in BIOS.
    The BIOS Version is 1.40.

I have already testing the other sockets (REAR and FRONT) but without any success.

How can i proceed for making this fan run properly?

Since BIOS P1.40, it opens a path in BIOS setup for user to set triggering value of a Fan Speed at a customized Temperature.

      Hi,

      Thanks for the reply.
I have setup all the fan speed to the minimum (30%) but there is no change : the speed going up directly at the maximum rate (100%) after 1 or 2 hour of use.

I have also try to force the fan speed to "fan duty 1" instead of "Smart Fan" but the problem remains.

        Hi,

Here some screenshots of my bios setup.
There nothing wrong in IPMI/BMC log about CPU temps or CPU FAN speed.

If you try to change the CPU Fan (1 or 2) from Smart Fan to any Level, save and exit, then return to the BIOS again to change the fan speed mode back to Smart Fan, would the fan speed varies according to the CPU temp?

I have done this and the server run more than 6 hours without any problem. It seems to work but i'll do some other test tonight to confirm it.
            Thank you.

Ok, so after a day of work (approximately 12-18h) without any problems the system becomes again unstable and make the CPU Fans going up to the maximum speed.
It seems that the procedure witch consist of setting up Fan Speed to level 1 and next setting it up to Fan Smart didn't last the length.
