  • XMP problems on X79

Hello, i have problems setting the XMP Profile on the BIOS..

It should work, but it doesn't.. I get a black screen (no signal to the screen)..
If i disable the XMP profile (Optimized BIOS settings's default), it works..

My RAM's exact model is: PX534G2000ELK, i have a 4x2GB set.. And my system is in my signature..

    Some info:

Check that across both these 2x4GB kits that you have that their SPD tables match, exactly, across all four sticks.
#1 - Please, when seeking help, enter the make and model of ALL parts that your system is comprised of in your Signature, or at least the model #'s in your System Specs, then "Save' it.
____If you are overclocking, underclocking, or undervolting any parts, informing us of this and their values would prove beneficial in helping you.

#2 - Consider your PSU to be the foundation from which all else is built upon. Anything built upon a weak foundation is poorly built.

Yep, they are exactly the same..

        Re: XMP problems on X79

First, your memory is not listed in your board's memory compatibility list. While that is not an absolute indication that it will not work in that board, it might be questionable.

But more likely the problem is related to this, from your board's memory compatibility list:

Name:	memory temp.PNG
Views:	1
Size:	52.9 KB
ID:	754496

We see the "downgrade to DDR3 1866" with all DDR3 2000 memory. If that is a board or CPU memory controller issue, I don't know.

You'll find similar memory speed downgrades for other memory speeds in the compatibility list:

        http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList...x79-series.pdf

I would be careful with a BIOS update as a fix, which I doubt would help, and the newer BIOS versions are made for Ivy Bridge E processors, rather than you Sandy Bridge E processor.

Frankly I thing you're stuck at 1866 with that memory.

LGA2011 strap feature? See post #2:

            Re: XMP problems on X79

I have similar problem ans a BIOS flash sorted it out. In my case all BIOS versions from F1 to F3u work flawlessly then from F3v to F4 not work and F5(+F5 betas) work fine, and F6 to latest F8 beta does not work. This is for x79-UP4 so for your board BIOS versions may differ. But it is definately BIOS issue. I have alerted Gigabyte support for it and awaiting answer. BTW i am using quad channel kit and still have XMP problems so the RAM is not an issue.

              Re: XMP problems on X79

Yes.. As parsec says, i'm sticking at 1866MHz with 1.5v (XMP disabled, optimal bios settings) FOR NOW!! Until i find a solution..

But, i searched a bit more, and i found this:

Intel QPI/vtt Voltage dangerously high in XMP profile

Maybe is that issue, a voltage issue, that wont let my computer boot..

As for BIOS version, yes.. In previous versions, XMP Profile1 (auto multiplier) was at 1866MHz (that's why my signature says 1866MHz :P)
Now, is the first time i see that XMP Profile1 is at 2000MHz with auto multiplier.. I'm using 13C, but i don't really know from what version was at 2000MHz..

                Re: XMP problems on X79

with F5 BIOS for my board vtt is 1.050v and this is when the XMP works. I can not check whats the vtt when i use non working with XMP BIOS because i get overclock failure error and all settings get to default values
