  • I7 6700k over heating issues

Hello all. Recently, I upgraded to the Z170 platform with a Asus Maximus Viii Formula with a Skylake 6700k cpu and a Thermaltake custom water loop. I have plenty of air flow in my case and the water loop is working great as well. My idle temps are normal i would say hovering between 30-40-c which i still feel is a bit high for idle, but even with a very small overclock, under load, i am reaching temps of low 90's and under heavy load i hit my 100 c limit and i start to throttle.

I have tried adding more water to the loop and less water and even going as far as taking the side panel to my case off and holding a house fan near the case. The high temps still keep coming.

I am not a computer engineer , but i know my way around, and i just have tried everything i could think of, what am i missing? What else could be causing these abnormally high tempos even with a water loop?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

Offhand, i would say 1: the heatsink isnt properly secure against the CPU
or 2: The pump isnt working properly.

Whatever youre using for coolant could be an issue also i suppose, but normally with temps like that its a pump issue.
