  • M_BIOS and B_BIOS blinking on my GA-Z77X-UD3H

Hey guys, as the title says, my brand new motherbord, just out of the box won't boot up. I'm not an amateur PC user but this is my first GIGABYTE and dualbios motherboard. The LED readout shows no code. When I turn on the PC a red symbol just blinks for like 1/10 second and then the readout is blank.

However , both the M_BIOS and B_BIOS LEDS blink, but not at the same time. When the M_BIOS LED blinks for a second, the B_BIOS LED then blinks for a second, and when that second is passed the M_BIOS starts to blink for a second again, and this continues over and over again.

Can anyone help me out ?

    Thanks in advance

Is the psu EPS12v 8-pin power cable connected to your motherboard?

We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the PC Specs portion of your forum profile http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile.php?do=editprofile at the bottom of the profile page or in your forum signature http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile....=editsignature.

Re: M_BIOS and B_BIOS blinking on my GA-Z77X-UD3H

      Yes, that one is connected.

Also, i've updated my profile with the neccessary hardware.

Since I was on my iPhone just now, I didn't really have the freedom to provide such details.

Anyways, a more detailed explanation :

Just booting up the PC Barebones (CPU, RAM, GPU and Motherboard only) with the neccessary power connections of course, nothing happens. I get no image, no post, no bios, nothing. The LED Readout very quickly flashes a red digit/symbol), then is blank as well. The only thing that shines is the power on button, and the two M_BIOS and B_BIOS (Main and Backup) bios blink one by one, for about a second.

I haven't flashed the bios yet, it just came straight out of the box. The CPU (Core i7 2700K) also just came out of the box, and the graphics card has recently been tested. Although if any of those components would not work I'd probably see it on the LED Readout.

try with onboard graphics if you can just to rule out graphic card compatibility issue, are you installing ram in second ram slot and fourth ram slot from the cpu socket?

Re: M_BIOS and B_BIOS blinking on my GA-Z77X-UD3H

Tried with onboard video, no effect.

Tried only the 2nd and the 4th slot from the CPU, still no error code (completely blank) and the M_BIOS and B_BIOS LED's are still blinking one after another, for a second long.

Thanks for the help guys, appreciated.

Re: M_BIOS and B_BIOS blinking on my GA-Z77X-UD3H

Try booting with only one memory module installed in the correct slot.
If successful, install a second memory module.
For 3 or 4 memory modules, you might need to change some bios voltage settings.
You can create bootable Memtest86+ v4.20 disk for testing memory using a floppy, usb drive or cd/dvd.
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool, downloads are in the middle of the page.

You might need to test with your motherboard on a cardboard box, beside your computer case.
Do not put the anti-static bag under the motherboard.

It still isn't working. I tried with all 4 of my ram "sticks" but it seems the motherboard doesn't even get to the point where it checks if the ram is ok. There's no image on my TV, that damned dual bios led just keeps blinking. I hate gigabyte now.

Have you tried to switch the bios switch from the main bios to the backup and see if it would boot? Also have you tried clearing the cmos via jumper with PSU and cmos battery removed? Also make sure you have no usb devices connected other then keyboard and mouse.

Yes, I tried with the switch to boot the backup bios. When I flip the switch the blinking rythm is disturbed, but then just continues to blink.

I uploaded this video to show you what I mean with the blinking :

It could be a faulty board but I would try the Extended clear that I mentioned above with clear cmos via jumper PSU power cord removed and cmos battery removed. Leave it like that for 5 min then try, if not let it sit longer up to 1hr or even upto 24 hrs. Also may want to try re-seating the cpu or look for bent pins.

Koen, did you figure this out? I have the EXACT same problem and your video confirmed it. The mobo as completely fine until I introduced a second monitor and then poof, it wouldn't boot after that. Prior to this the little voltage meter would read out the number beautifully and the internal power button actually worked. I've already tried everything presented on your post including switching out the PSU, no luck yet. If you solved it without replacing the mobo please let me know. Any response is much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey man. Unfortunately I needed a new PC asap so I bought a new board (a trusty ASUS board) which did work and left this one to get dust on under my bed, so no I didn't fix it, unfortunately. Sad to hear other people have the same problem. I suggest you RMA it, go to a local PC Shop or buy a new board like me.

                          Good luck anyways!

Too funny. A hard reset likely all needed with board out of case and minimum hardware. Guy should have bought a dell :)

I have a GA-z87x-ud3h with the exact same problem. My PC was actually running smoothly for 20 minutes before it crashed.

I purchased a second one, which looks like it also has the exact same problem.

I am about the send my CPU away as I think that is the last thing that can be wrong.
