  • Z68MA-D2H-B3 sleep and UEDI bios updating issues

I have a problem with my GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 ver 1.3, F10 bios system running Windows 8 with a ATI HD-7700 video card and Samsung 830 SSD. When the monitor turns off via the energy saving mode or the computer tries to enter the sleep mode, I am unable to wake the computer up. I have updated the drivers using the drivers from the Gigabyte web site. I have also updated the video drivers from the AMD site. Any ideas on what the issue is?

I also tried upgrading the BIOS to UEFI without luck. I tried booting to DOS using a Norton Ghost disk and then running the autoexec file from the BIOS file. I keep getting a message that it can't find FLASHEFI.EXE even thought the file is on the disk. What is the best way to update to UEFI? How do you create a bootable USB drive in Windows 8?

you probably need to use @bios if its larger than 2mb,its a one off, then go back to qflash

Gigabyte says you MUST use the program that is in the BIOS file to upgrade from BIOS to UEFI BIOS. You cannot use @bios or qflash. I am running everything at the standard voltage (no overclocling). The video card is slightly overclocked by the manufacturer.

Re: Z68MA-D2H-B3 sleep and UEDI bios updating issues

          Thanks.

I used a program similar to your link and was able to update the bios. I really like the new interface on the bios. I would like it better if I understood all the options. It is nice to be able to enter the bios with my wireless keyboard.

My sleep problem appears to be caused but the video card. I forgot about updating the firmware. After updating the firmware, the sleep mode appears to be working.
