  • 660Ti or 670??

I was wondering if the better deal would be a GTX 670 for $319 or a GTX 660Ti for $239. Anyone care to comment?

    Re: 660Ti or 670??

Personally I'd grab myself a 660ti. I mean, the price increase is almost 50% while the performance increase is roughly 15%. Considering the 660ti can run pretty much everything out there without any problem, I personally wouldn't spend those extra 100$ of the gpu :P Your call. Both are pretty friggin good deals though.

Check the reviews, which card will best meet you needs with a dual monitor setup and game quality settings?
The $80 price difference works out to about $27 per year if you keep the card for 3 years.
      Is SLI in your future?
A year or two from now, the price difference will be somewhat lower.

My preference is to buy a card that has the best cooling/fan noise features.
Depending where you live, there will be some excellent holiday sale prices.

No SLI, no gaming. I just want a good card for the future also. Looking at PNY right now because of the contained inside (which is supposed to keep the case a little cooler), lifetime warranty, and great price. Some say it is pretty quiet too which is a must for me.

No gaming ??? So why do you need to buy a GPU?

The OP didn't say what his graphics needs are.
PhotoShop? Graphics Design? Video Editing? Other demanding applications?
Will the integrated graphics be good enough to power a dual monitor setup?

              Re: 660Ti or 670??

My software takes advantage of the GPU for rendering purposes. Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe After Effects. It takes some power to run this stuff if you want fast rendering times. The better the GPU, the faster the rendering process goes along with when it does render there is also the viewing which takes power too. A good card makes a big difference. Onboard just won't cut it here.

                Re: 660Ti or 670??

Have you checked any forums for the rendering software to see if anyone has performed benchmarks that show how much faster the more powerful video cards are?

Yes, and the info listed is very vague. I have gone to forums and everyone has been having different results, so it is a trial and error kind of thing yet.

                    Re: 660Ti or 670??

I finally got some replies and I don't like what I found out but it could be worse. It has been found out that the new GTX 600 series has gotten worse for video editing and from many tests a 570 will actually beat a 680 and 670. The only thing I don't like is that it will use 29% more energy than the 670 but the trade off should be worth it. Now, the only question is do I get the 2GB or the 1280 or 1.25GB one? Is is worth an extra 80$ to get .75 more GB???? What say you all??
