  • Windows 7 Incompatibility

I have had my current PC setup for 5+ years now running with Windows XP. Recently, I tried to upgrade to Windows 7 with obvious failures due to out dated hardware. My question is what is the best route when upgrading components, MB, CPU, HD, memory, etc, etc ? Money is not an issue at this time, just the upgrade order. Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to upgrade to the Admiral setup TT has.

    Current Setup:
    MB Asus A8n-SLI
    CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200
    Memory 32GB Corsair Ram
    HD 3 x WD 74GB Raptor
    HD 4 x WD 250GB
    GPU 2 x XFX 8800 GTX
    Soundcard Creative Soundblaster x-fi
    CD read/writer
    DVD read/writer
    aftermarket CPU fan
    Case CoolerMaster Full Tower

    Re: Windows 7 Incompatibility

Upgrade order? Given your current hardware?

Your CPU, mother board, and memory are all obsolete regarding compatibility with any currently available new hardware. Meaning none of it will work with any new AMD mother boards.

If your HDDs are SATA drives, they could still be used. If any are PATA, a few new boards still have PATA connectors.

Video cards will be Ok. Sound card will need new drivers.

You really need to start from scratch.
