  • P55-UD6+ASM1061 SATA III pciE x1 card problem

    I have Chronos Asm1061 pci e x1 sata 3 card. I want to use it with my mobo gb p55-ud6 and ssd Samsung 840 pro 128 gb.When i put in second pcie 2.0 x 8 - BIOS does not detect the card.When i put in first pcie 2.0 x 16 everything is fine but my cable management going to hell and my video card Sapphire 7850 works with about 5 degrees more under load.Ask for advice if there is a way my video card to be included in the first pcie x16 slot and Asm1061 pci e x1 sata 3 card on second pcie x8 slot.

        Re: P55-UD6+ASM1061 SATA III pciE x1 card problem

        I tried to get information on that SATA card to try and help but all I could find were your other posts.

        but to your note on TeckX Forums;
        I have Chronos Asm1061 pci e x1 sata 3 card.I want to use it with my mobo gb p55-ud6 and ssd Samsung 840 pro 128 gb. When i put in pciex1 or pciex4 my r/w speeds are 190/180. When i put in intel sata2 port- 268/258.
        When i put in second pcie 2.0 x 8 - disk boot failure.

        In my opinion it makes no sense to spend money on these cards, but you need to invest in newer motherboards with sata3 support.
        on a PCIe 1x card, the max theoretical speed you could ever get is 250MB/s R/W... These guys had the best explanation I could find; Good PCIe x1 SATA III card - [H]ard|Forum but I have been reading this kind of info for quite some time as I wanted to add an appropriate SATA 3 RAID controller on my X58 motherboard... (the Marvel SATA3 controller that is onboard is a disaster, the Intel SATA2 controller is far superior)

        I don't know why the card wont work in the 8x slot, but I wanted you to know the speeds that you are getting on that card are the best you are going to get for a budget SATA3 card... to get faster more appropriate SATA3 speeds on an add-in card you need to get a high-end RAID card like an LSI MegaRAID 8x card.... that's just how it is, the onboard Intel SATA2/3 controller on the later motherboards is just that awesome for an onboard solution and can only be beat by a high-end aftermarket solution.

        Move any optical devices to the add-in card and use the onboard SATA2 controller for your SSD until you can get a a motherboard with an onboard Intel SATA3 controller.
