  • Looking at upgrading, advice would be much appreciated :)

I'm looking a probably upgrading on a budget I've currently got about £200 flat and about £80 spare each month.

    Current setup:

Novatech iRush Pro 2nd gen (2500k)

    Intel Core i5 2500K Processor
    2 x 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz Memory
    2 x 500GB 6Gb/s Hard Drive
    Novatech ATX Gaming Case
    22x DVD Writer
    4x blu Ray reader
Novatech Radeon 6770 1GB Graphics Card
Intel H67 Chipset Motherboard micro ATX LGA 1155 (1 PCIe)
22" led monitor (looking at grabbing a nice juicy 32" with excess)

I also produce music and I have an mBox 2 mini drawing power off the usb 3.0 as well as +40v phantom power on my mic

    Main thoughts are:

upgrade psu to corsair 750 enthusiast 80+ bronze
Full ATX mobo with 2 PCIE slots for crossfire
New GPU: sapphire 7850/7870 OC or nvidia 660ti (I know would mean mobo change but still a thought)
Or possibly hunt down a second 6770 and crossfire with New mobo
Adding RAM bring up to 16/32gb

My main question is what would you recommend first, if any, to keep up with advancements in games etc. Also should I wait for other stuff first, just a general consensus.

As a footnote I work for CEX so I can find some bargain goodies to keep coats down

Sorry for long post but wanted to be thorough and not leave anything out,

Thanks and look forward to hearing off you soon :)

what size psu do you have atm?

    I would just add in a z77 board,a single 7950 and maybe 8gb of 1600mhz ram,then overclock the cpu to 4.5ghz

It's a novatech 500 watt PSU, nearest link being:

Novatech PowerStation Gaming 500W Silent ATX2 Modular Power Supply | NOV-PSG500

I've spread this thread across this and "Tom's Hardware" as I'm mainly looking for advice on what I should do,

I'm kind of leaning towards both upgrading my GPU's to the sapphire 7850/70's oc editions and crossfiring them,

The PSU I've been recommended was the XFX 550 watt but i want your recommendations (This was before I mentioned about wanting to crossfire 2 GPU's btw),

      Thanks for quick reply

      Dan

ive used novatech's psu a lot in builds and they are fine, idk if 500w would be enough for xfire, maybe a 650w?

and idk which would be better two 7850's in xfire or a single 7950,less cards=less heat and xfire driver issues but its upto you

          Cheers man,
Think I might save up and grab a single 7900 series when their prices start to drop, picked up a gigabyte Z77x d3h after looking at reviews, which will be able to go for the xfire or SLI'd nvidia cards if ever I want to go for them :)

you can keep your current psu for now, then decide what you wanna do 7950 or 7870 ect

the 7 series cards run much cooler and oc better than the 6 series
