  • SLI / XFIRE Power Connector

    Hello,

As the title says, does anybody knew about this SLI / XFIRE power connector? I've been reading through the manual of my ASRock Extreme 6GB and it say's

" It is not necessary to use this connector, but please connect it with a hard disk power connector when two graphics card are plugged to this motherboard".

which obviously applies to me, I have 2 graphics card in SLI connected to this motherboard and bit confuse of what significant improvement it may result to the performance of my PC if i were to connect hard disk power cable?

really appreciate if somebody can enlightened me on this.

    thank you,

Re: SLI / XFIRE Power Connector

Connecting an additional psu power cable to the appropriate motherboard connecter provides an additional power circuit that can often help to stabilize a multi-gpu setup. This additional power circuit will lower the electrical loads on the existing pci-e power circuits. The overall electrical load on your power supply will remain the same, and all of the pci-e power circuits should be more stable. This is most important when you are running demanding games or encoding videos, especially when you have overclocked your video cards.
