  • Z87-UD3H Boot Loop Crucial RAM

    Hello,

my system starts only after many attempts and load the optimized settings, after I switch the powerbutton of the power supply/ unplug the power cable.

Furthermore, the system hangs up sometimes when I'm on the desktop after the monitor turns off after several minutes of inactivity itself and I must restart the computer manually

It doesn´t matter if I use 1333 MHz and CL9 or CL8 and 1,5V or 1,55V or disable the C-states.

I hope you know a fix for me and can help me.

Doesn't your memory work with XMP, is it in the compatible list for the board?

What are your Windows Power options? Are you using an SSD for your boot drive (what model)?

      I
already enable XMP Profile, but I have got the same problems.

The RAM is not on the compatibility list.

My Windows Power Settings are on maximum and only my monitor goes into standby after 5 minutes.

I use a Samsung 830 256 GB SSD as boot hdd.

I want to add that you can sometimes see a - on the screen and the POST code Ab before the computer restarts itself.

I see. It would not be too easy, as you may have to filter out the possible source. It can probably be the RAM, PSU, or motherboard.... or possibly the SSD too (like what happened to my setup with my older Plextor M5 Pro 128GB, before it got replaced) where the drive would intermittently disappear and Win 7 x64 would BSOD after waking it from sleep. Perhaps try another set of RAM? This is my first suspect. Or try your SSD in another system too.

Maybe others with more experience here may chime in.

Re: Z87-UD3H Boot Loop Crucial RAM

Are there any usb hubs connected to your system?
Which specific usb devices are connected to your system? Which usb ports are used?
Does this only happen with cold boots? Warm boots? Both?
Have you tested your ram by running Memtest86+ from a bootable usb or optical disk?

Try booting with a minimal hardware setup where you disconnect all hardware that isn't needed to boot, including your optical drive, video card and one memory module. If your system boots OK, reconnect one device at a time to see which device might be causing the problem.

Can you borrow another power supply, ram kit, keyboard, mouse and video card to test with?

            16GB kit (8GBx2), Ballistix Smart Tracer 240-pin DIMM (with LEDs), DDR3 PC3-12800 upgrades for Giga-Byte GA-Z87X-UD3H Motherboard, CT4371526 from Crucial.com

It's on the compatibility list from Crucial, are you overclocking your CPU?

I'm using Crucial Ballistix 16GB kit (BLS2KIT8G3D1609DS1S00) on F7 bios, XMP works and everything is stable.

You might want to temporarily remove your video card and disable onboard sound just to run the system as bare bones as you can.

Re: Z87-UD3H Boot Loop Crucial RAM

I flashed F8e and F7 non-modded a few days ago and looks like the boot issues are gone with F8e.

But the problems appears again today and I assess, that I won´t be ask if i want to start the computer with optimized settings when i have the boot loop, but it boots my ram only with 1333 Mhz and CL9. This could be the optimized stock settings for the RAM.

I tested the RAM with my memtest CD these days without any errors, unplug mouse and keyboard and I try booting with only one stick and other slots.

These RAM sticks seems to be very problematic, because people have issues with this sticks all over the different chipset generations and often with Gigabyte mainboards.
