  • Gigabyte z87-D3HP PCI E issue

Video card (Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 DIrt 3 Edition, stock firmware) PCI E 2.1, 16x. It's on the 16 x slot of the motherboard. But, it is stuck at 1x. Using a High Performance power plan on Windows. Even activating 3d stuff, the card stays at 1x. Tested an old Nvidia GTS 250, and it connects at 16 x.

Maybe the motherboard having an issue with the video card? Maybe some Bios setting? (the motherboard says on the box, Crossfire Ready) Or its just that I have a faulty video card?

Using the beta F6f Bios. Just one thing, the card went 16 x when I was playing with the Autotuning overclock utility. But after a reboot, got stuck again at 1x. I haven't been able to replicate the 16 x effect with the Auto tune utility.

    Reseated the card.
    Connectors cleaned.
Tested on the other PCI e port, same results.
    Onboard GPU deactivated.

    Intel i7 4700k
    8gb ram
    650w Antec Power Supply
    Windows 7 Service pack 1

Only 6970 shaders unlocked, on the second bios ( the card has dual bios) , but I'm using the 6950 stock original firmware right now. Have tested both firmwares (shaders unlocked and 6950 original) , still stuck at 1x. And yes, tested Auto, Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3, got same results.

By the way, Happy New Year. :)

It's the video card. This is the second ATI card that gives me problems. In games (I do a lot of PC gaming) like Guild Wars 2, I get 8 fps which is unplayable, on the other hand, at 16 x, the game goes up to 64 fps. I think my next card gonna be an Nvidia.
