  • Gigabyte Z87-HD3 4 DIMM - Issue

I have BSOD's with the Z87-HD3 Board when using all 4 DIMMS.

    I have the Problem

    - with the latest Beta-Bios
    - with 32GB RAM Crucial Ballistix Sport
    - with 32GB RAM Corsair Vengeance 1600MhZ , 1.5V v5.29.
    - with all BIOS-Settings

Both RAM-Sets are working fine on several ASUS-Boards.

When using only 3 DIMM-Slots, there are no Problems, using the 4th one will cause System Freezes and BSOD's.

There are many Threads about the Problem using 4 Dimms on Gigabyte Z87-Boards on the Internet.

Why theres no official Statement from Gigabyte? I can reproduce this Problem....
Will there be a fix for it in the Future? If not, this was my last Gigabyte - Board and i will change to Asus.

Is there a F9 beta Bios for the Z87-HD3 ?

    Re: Gigabyte Z87-HD3 4 DIMM - Issue

I had similar issue, but it was hardware issue.
    So to put it short:
...my first two DIMM slots after I installed CPU cooler were dead, so I found that bent socket pins can cause this sort of issues. If you tighten screws on cooler hard can bent pins in socket, or during CPU installation in socket...etc...
Maybe your issue is software related...then again what official support you expect for unofficial product (beta bios)...
So if you installed CPU or CPU cooler and doubt that you could bent some pins or pin...check it with magnifier glass in well lit environment ...
If it is beta bios related, go back to official bios...

Then you should contact official support or ask for new board that can work with all 4 dimm slots...
        I only have one RAM 8GB, so I can't check this...sorry...

          Re: Gigabyte Z87-HD3 4 DIMM - Issue

          I followed this Guide:

RDT Melbourne: Gigabyte 4 DIMMS FIX Hackintosh

and i increased my Voltages a little bit (robertsondt is using 1,35v dimms) and
i activated internal graphics with 32mb.

I don't have freezes since 3 hours testing using Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 32GB RAM (4x8GB).

Will test more and give some feedback then.
