  • Anyone else got z97-hd3 with 4790k ? vCore issue

    Hi.

My z97-HD3 bios sets vCore voltage to 1.392v as optimized default.

Does anyone else have the same mobo and cpu?

What is your default vCore? and what is your BIOS revision?

A kind fellow suggested that I update the BIOS, but I would like to be sure that the latest BIOS update will definitely fix this before I risk a flash update. (Currently on F4)

Hi smoothchat, you need to update your BIOS. The DC chip support was added to the most recent BIOS versions. Keep in mind, after flash it still may not be perfect. If the VID is still higher than it should be, you can call tech support and they will address it. I am having the same issue with my sniper/4790k. It was as high as yours before BIOS flash. Admittedly, it is better now, but still too high for auto and defaults.

      Hi James7679.

      Thanks for the advice.

I flashed the latest BIOS. Now my vCore is 1.188v when viewing in the BIOS. A massive drop.

So far all tests run without error with 21C at idle and < 45C with Prime95 v27.9.
